Hello Yeager Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well as we transition into spring and the month of April. It's hard to believe how quickly this school year is progressing, and we only have two months left! I am excited to share some updates and important information with you in this month's newsletter.

1. Academic Achievements: Our students continue to work hard and prepare for our upcoming Spring Assessments and STAAR Test! I want to give a big shout out to our teachers for putting in so much work to help prepare our students. As we enter this final grading period of the school year, I encourage parents to stay engaged and connected with your child's education and teachers to help support them in their studies.

2. STAAR Test Info: We will be taking our Reading, Math, and Science STAAR Tests this month. We will not be having lunch visitors during the three main testing days. The schedule is as follows:

April 16th - Reading for 3rd-5th Grade (No Lunch Visitors)

April 17th - Science for 5th Grade (No Lunch Visitors)

April 18th - STAAR Make Up Day

April 23rd - Math for 3rd-5th Grade (No Lunch Visitors)

April 24th - STAAR Make Up Day

3. School Safety: The safety of our students is our top priority. We continue to implement and update safety measures to ensure a secure learning environment. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact the school office.

4. Community Engagement: Our school thrives on the support of our community. If you are interested in volunteering or contributing to upcoming events, please reach out to our VIPS--their information is at the bottom of this newletter! Your involvement makes a significant difference in enhancing the overall school experience. We will be having a VIPs Appreciation Breakfast on April 19th.

It’s that time! Our families can start sharing about and donating to our Yeager Elementary Fun Run ! Our goal is to raise $15,000 for field trips, quarterly awards assemblies, and school supplies. Are you ready to help our school?

Save The Date! It’s time to Ignite the Night with our Inaugural Family Dance Party on April 12th from 6:00pm-7:30pm! Tickets are on sale in School Cash!

Volunteers have an important and valuable role at Yeager Elementary! It does not matter if you volunteer for one hour or one hundred hours over the course of the school year; any help you give is essential in enhancing the education of our students and we thank you!!

It is very important that if you have moved or your lease has expired, that you please provide new proof of residency to the registrar's office. You may email a copy of the current lease, HCAD, mortgage statement or closing documents along with a current light, gas or water bill to yeager@cfisd.net. Please make sure to include your child's name and grade level.

In May, we will be having a big 5th Grade Celebration Day that includes a field trip to Main Event, a 5th Grade T-Shirt for each child, and snack and treats that afternoon.

We need your help:

• Contributions: We're asking all parents to contribute $25 dollars to help us with all the costs involved. If you feel so inclined, you can help sponsor a 5th grade student as well to ensure we have the proper funding for all our students. All contributions will be made through School Cash Online. We appreciate any and all financial help to make this an awesome day for our graduating 5th Graders!

We will have more information on the specific date as well as our "Graduation Walk" date as we get closer to the end of the year.

Thank you for being an integral part of the Yeager Elementary community, and we can't wait to celebrate this special occasion with you and our amazing 5th Grade students.

The Yeager Spirit Cart will be open this coming Friday, April 26th during lunches. Students have the opportunity to purchase items from the Spirit Cart during their lunch time using Cart Cash only.

Cart Cash must be purchased online via School Cash (click here) by 12:00pm the day before. Students cannot bring money to school to be used at the Spirit Cart, only Cart Cash will be accepted.

Items include water bottles, fidget toys, stickers, pencils, nail polish, jump ropes, and much more. Items will range from $1 to $7.

We are also looking for volunteers to help staff the Spirit Cart. Please consider signing up here.

The last Spirit Cart date for the remainder of the school year will be May 24th.

We can announce your child's birthday on our electronic marquee at Yeager Elementary!

The birthday sign will be posted for 3 days (the day before the birthday, the birthday and the day after) for $15!

Birthday signs with your child's name will be posted UPON PAYMENT and there will be NO REFUNDS. Summer birthdays will still be posted in the summer.

The latest time we are able to check-out students is 3:30. After 3:30, they will need to be a part of our regular dismissal that begins at 4:05. If you need to pick-up your child early from school, please make sure to send a note with them to school and that the pick up time is before 3:30.

Thank you for understanding and for your support, this helps our staff ensure that we are able to dismiss our students safely and efficiently every day.

Students may come inside the building beginning at 8:20AM from the car rider line. Students should be dropped off no later than 8:40am so they have time to make it to class before the tardy bell at 8:45am.

At 8:45am we begin our morning announcements and our staff members on car rider duty need to go inside to report to their first-period classes. After this time, the adult will need to park their car and come inside to sign in their child.

We will start recording tardies on Tuesday, September 5th.

Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) are an essential part of the learning community. All parents, grandparents, and even members of the community are invited to volunteer their time and talent at Yeager Elementary.

There are many different opportunities throughout the year for volunteers to make an impact. If you would like more information on how you can be involved, please send us an email at yeagervips@gmail.com.

Also, please create a Volunteer Portal Account so ALL your volunteer hours can be recorded. We’d like to honor a Yeager VIPS each month and ensure all our VIPS are invited to the annual CFISD VIPS Appreciation Luncheon.

Please label all items that come to school with your child's name. Our Lost and Found gets very full multiple times a year and we end up donating lots of items. If your child's name is on their item, it makes it easy for us to return the item.

The new 24-25 Calendar was approved by the School Board. First day of school will be August 19, 2024! Click HERE to view the calendar.

Club Rewind is the before/after-school care program designed by CFISD and located at each elementary campus for eligible Pre-K through 5th grade students.

The program is fee-based and offers morning care, afternoon care and a combination of both. Click here for more information.
