Parent/Family Engagement
Parent/Family Community Engagement Program
In Texas education, the District Education Improvement Committee (DEIC) plays a critical role in supporting the development and improvement of district-wide educational initiatives. The purpose of the DEIC is to:
Guide Decision-Making: The DEIC helps school districts make informed decisions by analyzing data, identifying challenges, and recommending strategies that can lead to better educational outcomes.
Advise on District Plans: The DEIC works closely with district administrators to develop and refine the District Improvement Plan (DIP), which outlines priorities, goals, and actions to improve student performance and overall district effectiveness.
Review and Approve Curriculum and Programs: The committee reviews curriculum changes, educational programs, and instructional materials to ensure they align with state standards and meet the diverse needs of students.
Encourage Stakeholder Engagement: Comprised of a mix of teachers, parents, community members, and sometimes students, the DEIC encourages collaboration and provides a platform for stakeholders to voice their ideas and concerns.
Promote Accountability: By regularly assessing progress toward the district's goals, the DEIC fosters accountability, helping to keep educational strategies on track and ensuring that resources are used effectively.
South San Antonio ISD recognizes that parents, families, and the community are essential in shaping policies and programs that improve educational quality, equity, and effectiveness in school districts throughout Texas.
