The Mustang Minute

Fall Sports are Rockin'!
Another beautiful week at CMS with lots of learning and fun afterschool activities. This is the second year for our MIAA level Volleyball and Cross Country Teams and both are doing great! Yesterday I was able to stay and watch the volleyball team lose a tough one to Medfield but I was so impressed with how hard all the girls worked, how their skills increased even as the games progressed and how well they encouraged each other and worked together. The third match was a real nail biter where the girls tied it up several times and lost at the last 2 points in the end. Cross country had an excellent meet against Ashland. We have several students finish with their own best times and were competitive the whole time!
Our first intramural will be Tennis, starting on October 3rd. It will happen for six sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-4:30 (weather dependent!). Late bus students will leave at 4:10. The cost is $20. Checks payable to Coakley Middle School. This intramural is limited to 16 students from 6-8- so don't wait! Permission Slips and money are due Friday, Sept. 29h. Any questions, please email Mr. Bell at jbell@norwood.k12.ma.u
A permission slip is attached to this newsletter and can be picked up in the main office.

Coakley PTO Spirit Gear!
Real Mustangs Wear Pink 2023!
This October, Coakley Middle School will again be selling t-shirts as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. It is a great way to help students realize that even a small action can make a big difference. The proceeds earned from selling t-shirts will directly benefit breast cancer research and patient services provided by the American Cancer Society. Whether students buy a t-shirt or wear their own pink outfit on CMS Pink Day (FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27), they will learn they can advocate for the people they love.
If you have more than one student in your home, you can order multiple shirts using the form and get the whole family involved! This year, there is a choice of t-shirt colors (pink or gray) with the logo “Mustang Strong”. Forms are coming home next week.
Order forms must be returned to your student’s homeroom teacher by WEDNESDAY, 10/4.
Please reach out to Mrs. Murphy (amurphy@norwood.k12.ma.us) in 205A with any questions!
