Summer School 2025
Fill in learning gaps. Strengthen skills. Get ahead. Whatever your motivation, summer school can help make summer count! Summer programs are available for students with and without an individualized education program who meet the criteria detailed on the summer learning page. Scroll to the bottom of that webpage for answers to frequently asked questions and contact information for each area of summer school.
SRES Students that were recommended to attend summer school at Spring Run this summer by their teacher received a letter in their report card on Friday explaining how parents can sign up for summer school.
Registration opens April 11 for in-person summer school and closes May 28.
CCPSOnline summer registration has been open for weeks and closes April 26 for students interested in taking high school credits online.
Clinic Medication Pick up June 3-4
Dear Parents,
Parents and guardians must pick up their children’s medications from the school clinic, but the medications must be available for student use through the last day of school on May 31. All remaining student medications, including over-the-counter medications, may be picked up from the school clinic during normal school hours June 3-4.
After 4 p.m. June 4, all leftover medications will be packed and turned over to the Chesterfield County Police Department for disposal. Once medications are packed for police collection, they cannot be retrieved so it is important for parents to pick up medications on time. Late pickups are not permitted, and medications cannot be stored at the school during the summer.
All medications must be picked up even if your student will attend summer school. At the beginning of summer school, parents will need to provide children’s medication to the summer school coordinator at your child’s summer site. Please contact your child’s school nurse to request a copy of the medication order for all medications being administered during summer school.

New Student Attendance Google Form
We have developed a new online student absence reporting form. If/when your child will be absent from school you can complete this simple online form instead of calling and reporting your child's absence to the office. When a parent completes this form it sends a notification to the main office so the attendance secretary can record your child's absence in our Synergy student database. We hope you will find this new tool useful and helpful in reporting your child's absences.
Here is the new form https://bit.ly/3TsQjeq
Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe
Parents, as we enter springtime and the last few months of school, we ask for your help reviewing our school wide behavior expectations with your children.. We continue to remind students to be respectful, responsible and safe in all of the areas of our school. Please also review voice level expectations in our common spaces such as the cafeteria. Thank you for your help and support.

CCPS Parent Resource Topics
Family Resources
Video guide and other resources for families of
Guide to special education: Available from the Virginia Department of Education is the Virginia Family's Guide to Special Education. The department developed this new guide to help those involved in special education, whether as families, teachers, school administrators, advocates or students. Meeting the needs of children with disabilities requires an understanding of rights and responsibilities, which include the child’s rights and the school’s responsibilities to meet their needs. This guide includes a description of the special education process and what is required during each step of that process. The guide is currently available in English; translations will soon be available in Spanish, Arabic, Amharic, Urdu and Vietnamese.
New video guide: The Virginia Department of Education has released a video guide to the special education evaluation process. These video modules provide parents, families and other stakeholders a brief but comprehensive overview of the special education process on these topics: introduction to video series, identification, evaluation, eligibility, individualized education program, reevaluation, early intervention and what’s next. Each module is designed to be viewed as a stand-alone resource or viewed in succession.
Website: Lots of helpful information is available on the special education for families webpage of the Virginia Department of Education.

May End of Year PTA Updates "Farewell Huskies"
All good things must come to an end. Our school has had a great year, and we look forward to lots of great activities this month as we round out the last few weeks of school.
We are wrapping up Teacher Appreciation Week today. Our PTA has been enjoying facilitating Staff Appreciation events all week long. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 are currently taking their SOLs, and we have been providing some volunteers to help out at lunch time. Thank you to our volunteers!
Some students may have received a letter inviting them to come and paint a ceiling tile. Students who receive straight A's for 3 out of the 4 quarters of the year in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade are eligible. Once final grades are in for the year, we'll contact any students who qualified after the 4th quarter. This is the second year in a row the PTA has run this program - thank you to our volunteers helping to make this happen! We have 2 painting dates: May 14 and May 28. If you think your child should be eligible and they did not receive a letter, please reach out to your teacher directly.
Our final PTA meeting of the year - time to elect the new board! - is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21. We will have our 1st grade team joining us, AND you can learn about volunteer opportunities for next year. Please join us!
Our last Walk to School Day of the year will be Wednesday, May 22, from Collington. Field Day is May 24, and while this is a school event, the PTA is happy to help facilitate communication of the event, and provided FREE T-shirts to all students and staff.
Yearbooks will hopefully be at the school by the end of the 2nd to last week of school. We will have in person yearbook sales every morning once the books are received until all books are sold out, or the end of the year - whichever comes first. We will accept cash or check in person.
There is no school on Monday, May 27. The staff is hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast for any and all volunteers from this year on the morning of Tuesday, May 28. The PTA will be providing coffee for the event. Careers on the Move will be Thursday, May 30 for all grades. The 5th grade Picnic and Final Walk-through School Parade are scheduled for the new last day of school, Friday, May 31.
Please note the School Board voted to do away with the half days that were previously scheduled for June 3rd and June 4th. The last day of school IS May 31.
As mentioned above, the PTA elections will be held on Tuesday, May 21. Per the slate of presented nominees, we have three officers rolling off of the Executive Committee this year. Thank you to Micah Montanari - she was our Treasurer from 2021-2023 and has been our Secretary from 2023-2024. Thank you to Maggie Lenart - she has been our Vice President of Ways & Means from 2022-2024.
And thank you to all of you who have supported me as the President for the past two years. Coming out of the COVID years, so much work was needed to get our school and PTA back to it's pre-COVID strengths. We relied on feedback to help us find which direction to head, and have had many learning opportunities along the way. I have confidence that our new President nominee, Ashlee Creador, will serve the PTA and the school well in continuing our drive towards greatness.
If you have any concerns or suggestions, please feel free to contact me through the end of this month, and I will see you around the school building next year!
Thank you,
Katie Adcock
PTA President

Volunteer of the Month!!
Congratulations to Calla Talman, our April Volunteer of the Month!
Calla has been a diligent worker behind the scenes. She takes care of all of her own deadlines, handles all of her necessary contacts, and completes her projects without any additional guidance. She is able to work from her home on her own time, yet make a huge contribution to Spring Run. And this is her second year in this role! We want to recognize our Yearbook Coordinator, Calla Talman, as our April Volunteer of the Month! Calla completed last year’s and this year’s yearbook without issue - and we are looking forward to seeing the new yearbook soon.
Calla received a $15 gift card to Amazon, and she will be able to park in the Volunteer of the Month parking spot until our meeting on May 21.
Thank you for all of your help this year, Calla, and congratulations again!
Thank you for helping to make this a successful year!
