Traffic Safety Message
Students & Families,
As the school year returns, I wanted to remind everyone of the speed limits and importance of traffic safety in and around our school zones!
- Spruce Drive from Wahanna Road is a designated school zone, the speed limit is 20mph all hours & days.
- As you continue to the Seaside School District Campus and up the hill to the Secondary School, the speed limit is also 20mph all hours & days.
- As a reminder, the speed limit in the Secondary School parking lot is 10mph.
Traveling by bike? Anyone under 16 must wear a helmet when riding a bicycle. Failure to wear a helmet when required could result in a fine.
Seaside Police Officers will be conducting focused patrols in and around the school zones in the coming weeks. Please be sure to travel safely and obey all traffic laws. Thank you & have a safe school year!

ASPIRE
ASPIRE is Oregon’s statewide career and college readiness program that offers education, resources and mentoring for students. We help students seek a postsecondary education, including trade/vocational school, apprenticeships, military/ROTC, university, community college, etc. If you have any questions about anything career and college related, come visit the high school counseling office and talk to the ASPIRE coordinator!
Ashley Graffius is the new ASPIRE coordinator this year. You can find her in room B207, or send her an email at agraffius@seasidek12.org with any questions you may have. She can assist you with getting necessary forms and applications for your chosen post high school path.
What should I be doing in September to prepare for college???
Create a master list or calendar that includes:
Tests you’ll take and their fees, dates and registration deadlines
College application due dates
Gathering the necessary forms to apply for the FAFSA
Begin applying for your chosen colleges
Check with your counselors to check your transcript and make sure you’re on track to graduate
Contact the HS Counseling Office if you have any questions!
Senior Portraits
SENIOR PORTRAIT DEADLINE - JANUARY 10th
If you haven’t already, it’s time to start thinking about senior portraits. SHS uses your student's senior portrait for three things: the slideshow during graduation, local newspaper requests for photos, and the yearbook. Those all have deadlines - Yearbook’s is January 10th (the week after Winter Break). If we don't have a senior portrait in time we'll use the school ID pic.
You don't have to have a picture taken by a professional photographer! As long as it meets these guidelines, it'll work:
- File Type - JPEG or PNG (highest resolution possible so it looks good projected on the big screen during graduation)
- Image Size - We'll crop it to 2.5" wide x 3.5" high
- Your student should be the only person in the picture. Usually these pictures are taken outside (another reason to do it this summer while the weather is more dependable), and sometimes include a pet, an instrument, a car, etc. The best ones capture the senior's personality and who they are at this important moment.
Please email your student’s senior pic (just 1!) to seniorpages@seasidek12.org. Email kyork@seasidek12.org with questions and/or concerns.

Family & School Communication
Parent Square
By now you should have received an email introducing our new form of school-to-home communication at Seaside School District called ParentSquare. This unified communications platform is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with our schools. It provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff, and parents to:
Send and receive school and class information
Share pictures and files
See calendar items
Schedule parent-teacher conferences
and much more . . . all in one centralized place!
ParentSquare is different than ParentVUE, which is used to register your student and view assignments and grades
Parents—Getting Started Video
Parents – Getting Started Video (Spanish)
Introduction to Parents and Guardians Slide Deck (English)
Introduction to Parents and Guardians Slide Deck (Spanish)
All district and school, grade level and classroom information will now be sent to your computer or phone via email and/or text. For even more convenience, download the ParentSquare app (available for free for iOS and Android devices).
Bus Information
Please click the LINK here for bus stop information.
If you cannot find your bus stop or believe it is incorrect, please contact our transportation supervisor at 503-738-7150 or cpeters@seasidek12.org.
Please be at your bus stop 5 minutes earlier than the scheduled pick-up time. Bus times vary due to traffic levels. Bus route information is posted on our school website. See link above.
During the 2024-2025 school year we will again be using our bus badge program. This program increases the safety of our students on our buses by allowing us to know who is on the bus at all times and at which stop they exited.
Here's how it works. Student ID Bus Badge utilizes an ID attached to a student’s backpack or a lanyard which communicates with the Bus Pass scanner located on the bus. Students will scan the badge as students enter and exit the bus instead of having to take paper pencil attendance.
If you prefer to opt your bus rider out of this program please complete this form. It is important to note that students who opt-out of the electronic monitoring portion of the program will still need to show their Student ID Bus Pass to ride a district school bus. Their badge will just not have a active barcode to scan.
Student Medications
If your student has medical issues or needs to take medications during the school day, we need to hear from you ASAP! The medications will need to be delivered to the main office by the parent/guardian (NOT the student). We will ask the parent to complete forms for each medication your student takes. Even if your student has medication they need to keep with them during the school day i.e.: inhaler or epi pen or if your student takes an over the counter medication ie: cough drops or Advil, we need to have a parent signed form on file.
For our 7th grade students: Please be aware that all 7th graders need a Tdap booster as part of their required immunizations to attend school. If your student has not yet had that booster, please contact your primary care provider for this immunization. Immunization exclusion day is February 19, 2025 where all students must be up to date, or have an exemption in place, to avoid school exclusion.
Please contact the Main Office at (503) 738-5586 or the school nurse, Dani Nelson at dnelson@seasidek12.org
