Are you Reading This?
Minimum futures won't cut it!
Blah, Blah Blah . . . Just wondering if our Newsletters are effective at providing you important information? I like to think so, but I'm not sure. Obviously, if you are reading this, we thank you. I worry that too many families are not, and it makes me sad.
We are currently at State Minimum requirements for graduation (20 credits). Students and families may choose to Maximize learning experiences by selecting "full" academic course schedules (32 class periods available + CCP options).
High School is the only "Job" we are required to have/do. How can we not guide them to Build the best record possible!
Minimum "Futures" are not what anyone wants - and not what our world wants - for our kids.
Giving kids "What they want" may be the easy path to a "stress free" present, but the "stress" will be waiting. We need to challenge and support kids while we can - together - to give them options for "fulfilling" futures. Challenge your Ranger to be involved in their high school life!
This column was inspired by the concerning number of students absent (600+) on our "Future Fair" day. This day featured "hundreds" of experiences with College, Career and Community partners - about futures.
If your kid convinced you to let them miss the day as "unimportant," let's remember this rule "When a kid doesn't want to do it, or to have you there - they should probably do it - and you should probably be there, too (or get more information about it).
We want great futures for all of our kids. I know you are all GBED'd up and out. But, remember this, too - YOGOWYPI - You Only Get Out What You Put In.
We can do this for you and with you - but we need kids to be present in designing their "Futures."
Think Spring! GBED
Reminder - 3rd Quarter ends on 3/14. Report cards will be released on 4/4.
Ohio State Testing Information
State testing begins April 7th. The OSTs are part of the state graduation requirements. Students are required to display competency in math and ELA, as well as earn mandatory seals for their diploma by scoring proficient on various state tests. On the days during the OST administration, students who are not participating in testing or other scheduled activities, will have an adjusted report time for the start of their school day. Students not taking the OSTs may report to school at the normal time and will have an extended study hall in the cafeteria. Please see the link below for the NRHS state testing schedule.

GRADUATION PLAN MEETINGS, GRADES 10 and 11
During this meeting, counselors will electronically share a personalized graduation plan document with each student. We will talk about requirements, how to get help, and future plans! Parents please ask your student to show you the document–students can use this to plan course requests and keep track as they meet requirements.
Counselors are currently working through 10th grade–every student will be met with!
Next, counselors will meet with each 11th grader to ensure they are on track for graduation and begin discussing post-high school plans! Meetings will begin soon and course requests for next year can still be adjusted at that time!
