Cognitive Coaching (Level 1) is a four-day experience during which participants will build their communication and self-directedness through the process of becoming intentional about mediating for someone else's effectiveness. Planning and reflecting will be included. Research, modeling and practice will support learning. Cognitive Coaching is a process that supports individuals working together to improve their skills in a variety of situations.
Registration includes a Cognitive Coaching Learning Guide (12th Edition). Districts will be billed $45/registrant for a book fee. (This fee is covered for PLAEA staff.)
This is an evaluator approval licensure renewal option for administrators. Beginning administrators prepared at institutions outside of Iowa or career administrators from outside of Iowa seeking Iowa administrator licensure must complete the iEvaluate 1.2 before completing other evaluator approval course options.
About The Training
Research indicates that teaching is a complex intellectual activity and that teachers who think at higher levels produce students who are higher achieving, more cooperative, and better problem solvers. It is the invisible skills of teaching, the thinking processes that underlie instructional decisions, which produce superior instruction. Cognitive Coaching is a research-based model that capitalizes upon and enhances teachers’ cognitive processes.
