Burchell March Update

What: Applying for FAFSA with Matsu College

Who: Any senior who needs money for college, trade school, or school for certification

Where: Burchell High School

When: Thursday, March 17th, 6pm - 8pm

What you will need to bring:

1. Each student and each parent will need a unique Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID). Please click here to set up your FSA IDs or for additional information.

2. Social Security Numbers and driver's license numbers for parents and the student.

3. Records of untaxed income such as child support interest income or veteran noneducation benefits for parents and the student.

4. Information on cash, savings, and checking account balances, investments, and business and farm assets.

5. You will need the student and parent income information from the year 2020. This includes W2’s and any forms filed with the IRS. For a complete list of what is needed please click here.

All Summit students should check their Quarter 3 grades and make sure they completed each class. If students did not earn credit yet, these grades can still be improved, but there needs to be an action plan. One option is for students to sign up for Tutoring in LEAD After-School. Students must sign up for at least two days of tutoring, but can sign up for as many as four. Click on this link to sign up.

Or, if a student is already signed up for an after-school class, we will schedule tutoring time for them in order to get them caught up in a timely fashion. One benefit all LEAD After-School students receive is access to tutoring, along with the support of the LEAD staff helping to monitor their grades so we can help them to stay caught up.

As a reminder, LEAD After-School has switched from doing 10 week classes to five week classes. This allows students to a shorter time committment to after-school, as well as allowing students to switch their focus after five weeks to keep them more engaged. But that also means that we have less wiggle-room to add new students, and that attendance is even more important. The last day to sign up for after school will be Thursday, March 17th. The next set of five-week classes will begin April 11th.
