Thank you for your support of our Boosterthon event! Notes went home Tuesday with scheduled obstacle course times for October 10. 2 guest per student, please send back the bottom of the note ASAP so we can run your badges.
Our school hours are 7:25-3:40. Our car line opens at 6:45am daily. Student attendance is taken at 9:30 am daily, please keep this in mind when making appointments. A student must be here at 9:30 am to be counted present for the day. A student may only miss 15 school days total for the year (excused or unexcused.)

Parent Behavior Tip of the Week
Focus: Demonstrating Respectful Communication and Problem-Solving Skills
Example Scenario: Bedtime Reading Resistance
Situation: It’s bedtime, and your child is resisting reading. They say, “I don’t want to read!" and start to whine or have a small tantrum.
Here’s how you can approach the situation:
Stay Calm: Model Emotional Regulation: Take deep breaths and maintain a calm demeanor. This shows your child how to manage their emotions in challenging situations.
Acknowledge Their Feelings: Validate Emotions: Say something like, “I see you’re really upset about reading right now. It’s okay to feel that way.” This helps them understand that it’s normal to have strong feelings.
Use Respectful Communication: Express Yourself Calmly: Instead of reacting with frustration, use a calm voice to discuss the situation. For example, “I know reading feels tough right now, but it’s important for us to try.”
Offer Choices: Empower Them: Give your child options, such as choosing between two books or deciding whether to read together or alone. This helps them feel more in control.
Problem-Solve Together: Collaborate: Ask, “What can we do to make reading more fun tonight?” This models cooperative problem-solving and encourages them to think critically.
Set a Time Limit: Make It Manageable: Suggest a short reading time, like 10 minutes. Say, “How about we read for just a few minutes tonight? We can always read more tomorrow.”
Share Your Own Challenges: Be Relatable: If you’ve ever felt frustrated about a task, share that experience. For example, “Sometimes I don’t feel like reading either, but I always feel better when I do.”
Create a Positive Environment: Set the Mood: Make reading time inviting with soft lighting and a cozy setup. Show enthusiasm for creating a pleasant atmosphere.
Celebrate Progress: Recognize Efforts: If they manage to read even a little, praise their efforts. “I’m proud of you for trying to read tonight! You did great.”
Reflect Afterward: Discuss What Happened: Later, talk about the tantrum and how you both felt. Ask, “What can we do differently next time?” This encourages reflection and learning.
By demonstrating these behaviors, you not only handle the situation with grace but also teach your child valuable skills in emotional regulation, communication, and problem-solving.
