We are a community of learners and leaders united to enrich the lives of all our students.
Principal's Message - Mr. Stoney
Dear Mary M. Knight Families and Community Members,
As we begin this week honoring our veterans, I'm filled with pride at how our OWLS community continues to demonstrate its commitment to service and character.
I'm thrilled to announce that our recent Penny Wars campaign was a tremendous success, raising $530.03 for the Gary Sinise Foundation to support veterans. Special congratulations to our second-grade class, who led the way with an impressive 1,935 points! Your generosity demonstrates our community's dedication to making a difference in the lives of others.
This spirit of giving continues with our Skills USA team's Thanksgiving food drive, running November 11th through 15th. All donations will benefit the Matlock Grange, directly supporting our local community. We welcome pre-packaged, unopened, non-perishable food items as well as monetary contributions.
Last week, we celebrated our secondary students' achievements at our quarterly awards assembly, focusing on the character trait of Ownership. Congratulations to our outstanding students: Kheiron Sjolie, Bash Buck, Tarin Lovejoy, Hunter Gilmore-Hulford, Ryder Lake, Carissa Reeves, Chase Tupper, and Quintin Ogg-Torgramsen.
Looking ahead, our high school students will have an exciting opportunity this Wednesday at the Shelton Career Expo. This valuable experience will connect our students with local businesses and organizations, exploring future education and career possibilities.
I'm also pleased to recognize our latest GRIT award recipients for their demonstration of Growth, Resilience, Intensity, and Tenacity. These students continue to exemplify the qualities we strive to develop in all our OWLS.
Remember that there is no school on Monday, November 11th, in observance of Veterans Day. Also, please note that our monthly PTO meeting will be held Wednesday, November 13th, at 3:30 PM. Your participation and input are always valued.
As we continue through November, our elementary students are focusing on Gratitude through our Character Strong program. This theme perfectly aligns with the season and our recent community service initiatives.
Thank you for your continued support in making Mary M. Knight a community where learning, character, and service go hand in hand.
Go OWLS!
