• Keep the device in the protective case at all times. It can be used and charged in the case.
• The case should only be used to store the device and charger and no other school items.
• Bring the device to school each day and charge the device every night.
• Do not remove asset or identification tags on hardware.
Standard Response Protocol (SRP) Focus: SECURE
SRP Focus: Secure
Secure "Get inside. Lock outside doors."
What does this mean?
- Secure means that we are locking and securing all outside doors.
- We will not allow anyone to go outside or any visitors to come inside.
- Classes will then continue as usual, including moving from room to room.
Why does a "Secure" get called? When there is something unsafe outside the building, such as:
- An incident nearby such as criminal activity or a suspicious person in the area
- An emergency like a dangerous fire at a nearby building
- A dangerous animal on the grounds
- Civil unrest near the school
When is it over?
- The Secure will be over and school activities will return to normal as soon as possible. This is typically done in conjunction with other authorities like law enforcement.
- Typically an announcement will be made that the Secure is All Clear, and the day will continue as planned.
- Depending on the situation, we may begin to allow controlled entry to the building.
- Depending on the situation, we may need to have a controlled release of students and the school day won't continue. If this extraordinary situation were to occur, the school and district would contact families through multiple means of communication.
Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences
- Monday November 13th from 11:00am-7:00pm. (Teachers will be unavailable from 4-4:30pm for a scheduled break)
*There is No School on November 13th*
Nurtured Heart Approach is back again!
The NHA event will be hosted at Jefferson Elementary on November 30 and December 7 from 5:30-7:30pm. The 2-night training will focus on providing specific strategies to use with your child and family to help with building relationships, increasing your child's inner wealth, and improving behaviors. Dinner will be provided and NHS students will be volunteering to provide childcare for children 4 years old and up. Two ways to register: flyer 1 and flyer 2

School Health Updates
With the change of season, now is a great time to talk with your child about healthy habits. Personal hygiene plays a critical role in promoting a positive self image and reinforces healthy habits. We encourage these good hygiene strategies at school and at home. The following are examples of good DAILY hygiene practices:
Shower or bathe every day
Brush teeth twice daily and floss
Wash hands ALWAYS after using the bathroom, before/after eating, playing outside.
Wash hair daily or at least every other day
Use deodorant or antiperspirant daily
Wear clean, unsoiled clothes every day
Wear clean socks and underwear every day
Maintain your general health through exercise, plenty of rest and good nutrition
Meet Teacher Becky Radke!
This is my 4th year as a social studies teacher here at Ben Franklin but I also taught at Plover-Whiting Elementary for 12 years. Besides teaching my 7th and 8th grade students, I enjoy leading the 9th grade Washington D.C. trip. Seeing the students have a blast while trying new things and going new places makes the months of planning and preparation all worth it! Outside of school I love to spend time with my family. My husband and I have four kids and a 2 year old Golden Retriever, Jasper, who my kids think is the favorite. :) I love being outside and enjoy traveling, hiking, kayaking, boating, and photography. Some little known facts about me are that I love reading and usually read 200 books each year, I was in two branches of the military, and I met my husband in the Air Force.
Thank you Becky for your service!
Air Force Veteran Rebecca Radke fulfilled a lifetime dream by being an attendant on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. She had the privilege of accompanying Army Vietnam Veteran Sgt. Jim Koller. Honor Flights give our nation’s Veterans the appreciation and honor they deserve by sharing their experiences with other Veterans and remembering the fallen; Mrs. Radke has volunteered with the Honor Flight organization for five years. Thank you, Sgt. Koller and Mrs. Radke for your service!
