Flynn Update
September, 2024
Dear Flynn Families,
As the vibrant hues of autumn begin to paint our days, I am filled with appreciation for the lively spirit and fresh energy that each of you brings to our school community. September is not just a change in season; it’s a time of exciting new learning opportunities and community activities that foster growth and connection among our students and families.
Fall Picture Day – Dress Down! Mark your calendars for Fall Picture Day on Friday, September 13th. This is a dress-down day, so students are welcome to wear their favorite outfits instead of uniforms.
Butterfly Pavilion Club Starts Soon! We are thrilled to announce the start of the Butterfly Pavilion Club on September 16th. This club offers unique learning experiences about nature and science tailored to different age groups. Space is limited. Please use the links below to register your child:

Westminster Public Schools Homecoming Parade Join the community for the Homecoming Parade on Saturday, September 21st, starting at 10 AM. It’s a great way to show our school spirit and support our students and staff participating in the parade. See below for the parade route.
Parent-Teacher Conferences and Scholastic Book Fair Looking ahead, please save the dates for Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 14th and 15th. These will be held alongside our Scholastic Book Fair—an excellent chance to support our school while fostering a love of reading in our students.
Safety Reminders
- Morning Drop-off: Please do not block traffic or the orange and blue lanes when dropping off your students in order to now slowdown dropoff. If you need to walk your child into the building, please use an open parking spot.
- Afternoon Pick-up: For the safety of all, no left turns are allowed out of the parking lot during dismissal times. Last year, an accident occurred due to a car turning left, and we want to ensure everyone’s safety.
Thank you for your cooperation and for making the start of the school year smooth and successful. We look forward to a fantastic September full of learning and community involvement.
Warmest regards,
Dr. Chism

Homecoming Parade
Please join us in cheering on Flynn's float in the Westminster Public Schools Homecoming Parade starting at 10am on September, 21st.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Flynn uses two lanes of traffic for arrival and dismissal. Blue lane traffic are vehicles that are entering Flynn from 88th Ave, along 88th Way (traveling south, by the field). Orange lane traffic are vehicles that are turning on to 88th Way from Lowell (traveling west).
ARRIVAL
If you are dropping your student off, you will pull your vehicle into either the blue lane or orange lane. These lanes are marked with cones. If pulling into the blue lane, please pull as far up towards the cross walk to let your student out. If using the orange lane, please pull as close to the Flynn exit (facing Lowell) and your student can get out and use the crosswalk to safely walk to the building.
DISMISSAL
For dismissal, we use an app called Driveline. Dismissal will begin at 1:20 p.m. on Mondays and 3:20 on Tuesdays through Fridays. Students walking home will be dismissed at 3:30 (1:30 on Mondays).
All families will receive a number tag at the start of the school year. This tag is to be hung from your vehicle front mirror so support staff can easily see your number. If you are a returning family, your number remains the same.
Parents who are parking or walking can stand near the front office entrance and provide your number to the staff member collecting numbers.
All parents and guardians are expected to use the crosswalk and follow the traffic and safety rules.
TO AND FROM SCHOOL-TRAFFIC and PEDESTRIAN SAFETY
Students may begin arriving at 7:50 a.m. every day. Students will enter into the gymnasium to participate in our walking program. Parents are welcome to join their student in the gymnasium, however are not permitted to visit classrooms without signing in as a guest in the front office.

WPS District Accountability Advisory Council
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,
Are you passionate about your student’s education and eager to represent your school? If so, we invite you to apply for the 2024-2025 WPS District Accountability Advisory Council (DAAC). This is your chance to dive deeper into the workings of our district, connect with district officials, share valuable information with your school community, and network with other engaged parents and community members.
Joining the WPS DAAC means you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of our District's mission, operations, and strategic priorities. This knowledge will empower you to be a more effective leader and advocate for your school. It’s an invaluable opportunity to make a real difference.
Applications are open now until August 25th at 11:59 pm. For new members, the first meeting will be on September 3rd. We are committed to ensuring every parent has the opportunity to engage with their school and district in meaningful ways. However, space is limited, so apply now.
