Principal's Notes
What a beautiful weekend, I hope everyone had a chance to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. We have a full weekly update as we head into a busy stretch. I hope everyone is looking forward to the Trunk or Treat coming up this Friday. It is a very fun event and as of right now the weather looks as if it is going to cooperate....fingers crossed!
Please make sure to RSVP, link below, so that we can make sure to have enough candy for all those that attend. I will send out a detailed reminder about the night later this week.
Uniform Weather Update - SHORTS! - With the warm temps this week we are going to allow shorts!
All my best,

Faith Formation - Weekly Affirmation
Our focus this coming week is ~ Don’t Give Up When Things Get Tough
Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Sometimes it takes time to see results of our hard work in school, but God encourages us to be patient and keep doing our best. If we don’t give up, we will see the good results of our efforts.

Teacher Spotlight - Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Burke - Grade 1
The students in Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Burke’s first grade classroom have been learning about doubles and near doubles. A double is a fact such as 6+6 and 7+7. A near double would be 6+7 or 7+8. This strategy helps students to develop math fact fluency. After completing the doubles and near doubles lesson. Mrs. Brown had the students complete a Monster Math Graphing activity. The students each had two bags of Welch’s Halloween fruit snacks. They counted the fruit snacks to find the total. Then, they sorted the fruit snacks into Halloween shapes: pumpkins, bats, haunted houses, ghosts, and witches to determine how many of each shape. Finally, they made a bar graph to represent the totals. Learning about bar graphs helps students to organize and display data.
Mrs. Brown’s favorites: holiday: Halloween and Christmas; coffee/ tea order: Peppermint tea with sugar; flower: rose; cookie: peanut butter blossom; place to shop: Marshall’s ; season: Summer; Disney character: Tigger.
Mrs. Maria Burke’s favorites: holiday: Thanksgiving; coffee/ tea order: water; flower: tulip; cookie: chocolate chip; place to shop: Talbots; season: Spring; Disney character: Belle.
