The MJT Weekly
September 13th, 2024
Our First Full Week
Dear MJT Families,
This was a fantastic week here at MJT. All classrooms focused this week on learning how to display positive behavior here at school. For those of you new to MJT, we follow a PBIS model (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports). We base this program off of the "Three Bees"- Be Safe, Be Kind, and Be Responsible. Students can earn Bee Bucks for showing positive school behavior, that they can then turn in to purchase items at our Bee Buck Store. Any adult can give bee bucks, including but not limited to classroom teachers, therapist, counselors, cafeteria staff, and bus drivers! I encourage you to talk to your student at home about this and share in their enthusiasm! To help promote an understanding of this concept, the entire school participated in our PBIS Kick Off Carnival on Thursday. Half of the day was devoted to fun activities, games, face painting, and ice pops (Thank you to the PTO for providing the materials and volunteers). The other half of the day was spent visiting the cafeteria, playground, hallways, library, and and buses to learn how to display positive, safe behavior all over the school. Additionally, we will have monthly PBIS ceremonies to recognize students who did an outstanding job displaying the word of the month. September's word is SAFETY.
Updates and Reminders:
- Please notify the main office by 11:00 if there is a change of dismissal plan for your child.
- If you are dropping off or picking up at the Lee Road Loop, you must stay in your car. Staff can help the student out, and you can pull up to the wood line to help your child buckle in. Pick up has been delayed slightly over the last few days as a result of adults waiting outside their vehicle. I truly appreciate your attention to this matter.
- Open House if Thursday, 9/19 from 6:00-7:00. We would love to see all families attend! Students have been working hard and there is a great deal of work displayed in the classrooms and hallways for you to see!
Please see the information below regarding mandated notification of emergency drills:
We will be conducting emergency drills during the week of 9/16-9/20 and 9/23-9/27. Please see the information below:
Please do not come to the school campus during the drill.
Please do not call the school offices during the drill.
Please do not contact students or staff members via cell phone or social media during the drill.
After the drill, you can support your child by helping them understand why we practice and prepare by conducting drills.
Please remember that conducting these safety drills can help maintain our schools as a safe place to learn and work.
Please make sure that your contact information is always current. Here is the link to log into the Eschool Parent Portal to update your contact information. (When logging in for the first time, you'll need your Student's ID, found on a copy of your schedule or transportation schedule that was sent home to you.) Or please feel free to call your school building secretary for assistance.
We know that the concept of “Lockdown” can be unsettling, but please take comfort in knowing that these drills are designed to enhance our preparedness and ensure a safe learning environment. We are committed to approaching these drills with sensitivity and care. Remind your child that they can always talk to a school staff member if they have any concerns.
