Happy August Miles Mustangs!
Wow! What a wonderful start to the school year! These first days have been nothing short of extraordinary. From the wonderfully attended Meet the Teacher, to the large turnout of middle school athletes looking to join volleyball and basketball all the way to the new to Miles staff sharing thanks and gratitude for feeling welcomed and already having a sense of belonging. I am fortunate to be part of such a lovely school community and know that this school year will be our best together yet!
In this month's edition of our campus newsletter, you'll get a glimpse of the staff new to Miles. Make sure to say hello to them when you see them on campus. They complete us:)
Finally, check out the dates and times of upcoming events detailed in this newsletter. We sure hope to see you a lot!
All Smiles,
Principal Steele

Miss Tonya Buckley PK Room 11
Hello! I am your new ExEd Preschool Teacher. I am excited to join the Miles ELC Team. Go Mustangs! It's all about the scholars!! I have taught Exceptional Student Services for the last 18 years. It is my greatest passion to meet the needs of every scholar I encounter. I have a Bachelor of Arts, Masters in ExEd, and obtaining a second Master's. I love people and have a great sense of humor. I can connect with anyone at any given time. My heart is BIG and sincere. I have two wonderful children: 41 and 24 in age respectively. I like being home. My favorite tv shows are HGTV and the Gameshow network. My favorite foods are any healthy finger foods such as tortilla chips, hummus, veggies I can dip, nuts, and dark chocolate. My favorite fast food is Raising Cane's.

Hello Parents! My name is Gabrielle Clarke, I tend to go by Mrs. Gabi. I am getting my masters at GCU while I am teaching your children. I am looking forward to working with you and our scholars! I am a newer teacher but I am more than ready to communicate and understand the way Miles does things. I own a bunny and tend to have hobbies outside of school and work by going line-dancing, and playing Pokemon. I try to stay up to date so I can relate what I teach to the students. Thank you for welcoming me to the Miles Community!

Hello Miles Mustangs! If feels so great to be back at this amazing school! Many moons ago I had the privilege of working here as an ASL Interpreter and then the MS Teacher of Deaf/Hard of Hearing. It feels exciting to dust off my UA degrees and put on my teacher hat now that all three of our children are enrolled in school. I am married to my college sweetheart and when we aren’t driving our kids from sport to sport, we enjoy hiking, swimming and traveling. Last year we moved back to Tucson from a three year adventure in Hawaii. It was quite the experience, but nothing - not even paradise - will ever compare to home!

Middle School Boys Basketball & Volleyball
Dear Parents and Guardians,
My name is Edward Michel and I am excited to have the opportunity to serve as Miles Boys Basketball and Volleyball coach this year. I have coached both basketball and track at the middle-school level with players of all ages and skill levels. My coaching philosophy centers around playing smart, playing fair and playing as a team. I believe that by working as a team and focusing on making small improvements each and every practice, we can achieve great success both on and off the field. Below are a list of my expectations for our student athletes and their families:
Do's
Be on time for practice
Be supportive of teammates
Keep up with your homework and grades
Treat officials, coaches, and opponents with dignity and respect
Bring your water bottle
Have fun
Don’ts
Excessive or unexcused absences
Fighting, swearing, derogatory or negative comments
Poor sportsmanship
Parental bad behavior
If you have any questions or concerns throughout the season, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email (link below). I am committed to open communication and am always happy to discuss any issues or concerns that arise.
I am looking forward to a fun and successful season, and I am excited to work with your child and help them grow as a player and a person. Thank you for entrusting me with this important responsibility.
Sincerely,
Coach Michel
