March
Music with Mrs. Dreher
In general music class 3rd graders are learning notes G and E on recorder. When played in order, G E can sound like a doorbell! Students had fun playing their doorbell patterns on both recorder and xylophone. 4th grade focused on a descending scale pattern GFEDC while learning the circle game Cut the Cake. We had a blast singing, dancing, and playing the xylophone! 5th and 6th graders are breaking down the chord progression of the Lion Sleeps Tonight using the 1, 4, and 5 chords (C,F, and G). Students chose their instruments and groups as they worked together in teams to play this popular tune in their own special ways!
March "Math"ness
We're thrilled to announce that Miss Litterio's 5th grade class are the winners of our March "Math"-Ness Competition! Fantastic work by all students who participatedโyour hard work and enthusiasm for math truly shined. Great job, everyone!
๐ญ Frog Pond Drama Production ๐ญ
Congratulations to our amazing Alice in Wonderland cast, Mrs. Hansson, and Mrs. Palumbo! The students did a fantastic job bringing the story to life on stage. Weโre so proud of everyone involved!
Peer Buddies
Our Peer Buddies met this month and chose centers of activities to hang out together and play. Our 5th grade STEP students meet once a month with a few of our self-contained special education classes to get to know each other and learn about each other. Itโs a wonderful time for all involved! Next time we meet we will be painting rocks for a memorial garden for one of our former special education students that had passed away. Doing activities together helps us learn how to work with others who may be different and fosters a community of empathy and trust!

What we are learningโฆ.
Each grade has been working on projects related to particular artists and their styles.
3rd grade has been learning about the sweet artwork of Wayne Thiebaud.
4th grade just finished working on a large project, so they have shifted gears to work on the mindfulness of zentangles.
5th grade learned how sneakers went from for to fashion and have become a new canvas for artists as they design themed sneakers.
6th grade is finishing up their work with Keith Haring and will be moving on to create works like Seuratโs, using pointillism.
