Dear Vikings,
It is a busy time of year! The sports season is winding down, our musical performances are taking center stage, and the excitement of graduation and end-of-year festivities are filling the air. There's certainly much to be proud of this year.
I am thrilled to announce that Northridge High School has earned the Purple Star award for its commitment to supporting military families. To commemorate this honor, we will be adding new names to our Veterans' Wall, further recognizing our community's heroes.
The recent production of "Into the Woods" was a tremendous success, showcasing the hard work and exceptional talent of our students. It was a vivid display of the vibrant spirit within our community. I also had the pleasure of guiding the Athletic Boosters on a tour of our new athletic complex. The progress is impressive, and we are eagerly anticipating its completion.
The coming month will undoubtedly pass in a whirlwind of activity. As we shift our focus to graduation and the end of the school year, let's all pause to appreciate the warmer weather, the final season events, and most importantly, our Viking community.
Warm regards,
Dr. Kristine Michael
Superintendent

Kindergarten Round-Up was a night of adventure and excitement for our new Kindergarteners and their families. Entering Kindergarteners enjoyed a western-themed scavenger hunt for a self-guided tour of NES. Families had the chance to meet teachers, student leaders, cafeteria staff, librarians, and other members of our Northridge family. This event successfully welcomed our new students and helped them feel comfortable and excited about the upcoming school year.

NHS Brings 'Into the Woods' to Life On and Off Stage: Northridge High School’s performance of "Into the Woods" featured incredible sets, acting, and singing. It was a true community production that highlighted the exceptional talents of our students. This true community production went beyond the stage, as the cast brought their performance to the elementary school, offering younger students a firsthand experience of theater magic. Additionally, to engage the broader community, the play opened a day early exclusively for senior citizens. These initiatives underscore NHS’ commitment to enriching the community through the arts.
NHS Band to State: The Northridge Concert Band made history by competing in the State Large Group Competition in Class B for the first time ever, receiving an overall score of EXCELLENT. Hosted at Licking Heights High School, this milestone event marked a significant achievement as reaching the state level is a considerable honor. Congratulations to these Viking Musicians!
NHS Choir Rated Superior: The Northridge 'Vocalise' choir performed at the OMEA State Contest on Saturday, April 27th. They received an overall rating of "Superior" for their performance in the Class C division. This is the highest rating that a performing group can receive. We are so proud of their hard work!
NHS Awarded Purple Star Designation: Northridge High School has been awarded the prestigious Purple Star designation by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. This accolade is in recognition of the school's support in academics and wellness to ensure that military-connected youth thrive educationally and adapt smoothly when transitioning between schools. We are proud of our military-connected Vikings!
Change in Enrollment/Student Update Site
We've upgraded our registration platform to Final Forms, replacing Registration Gateway. An email with instructions on updating your student's information for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year will be sent. Please ensure all information is updated before the start of the school year.
Summer Building Maintenance
This summer, several building upgrades are scheduled, including middle school plumbing, enhanced security features with new cameras, tree removal, maintenance at the district office, asphalt resealing, replacing smoke detectors at elementary schools, high school concrete repairs, acquiring a scissor lift, and installing new fire safety systems. All of these capital improvements will be complete when doors open in the fall.
Despite a rainy spring, the construction team has made notable progress on the new athletic facility. Recent updates include the arrival of the home grandstands, the rollout of the turf field, and the setting up of lights.
