FIRST GRADE
MISS MCLAUGHLIN'S CLASS
Miss McLaughlin’s first grade class has concluded their Defined Stem unit. Throughout the unit, students learned about penguins. Each student created a brochure to summarize their research. The brochure included facts about the different types of penguins, the life cycle of a penguin, and penguin adaptations. The students had an enjoyable time taking on the role of a marine biologist.
MRS. FEDELE'S CLASS
This week Mrs. Fedeles class started the Air and Weather science unit. They first learned about air and were able to make their own parachute. They loved testing them out in the classroom!
SECOND GRADE
THIRD GRADE
The third grade had an assembly today called the " Rocks and Mineral Show." This was presented by Mike and Roberta Straka, two paleontologists. They explained how rocks are formed, the three types of rocks and how geologist identify rocks. The presentation featured " Mr. Nixon" an eight foot Triceratops skull discovered by their team in 1996. Students had a chance to dig for dinosaur fossils, shark teeth, minerals and petrified wood. They also took home a souvenir, which was a piece of yellow calcite. This was a fun culmination to our rocks and minerals unit in science.
FOURTH GRADE
Mrs. Cromwell’s class received their tickets for Hogwarts and made it past the barrier at Platform 9 3/4. They are really enjoying reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
