The Cardinal Connection
R.L. Wright Family Newsletter
August 23rd , 2024
Hello Cardinals,
We have had a great week of new learning, new friendships, and new fun! I am so proud of your kids. Getting back into the school routine can be a challenge, but they have handled this week wonderfully.
We think we have most of the kinks worked out of our new dismissal system. It is very important your child and/or your child's teacher knows where they are going, and with whom, after school.
You might have heard your child talking about Beanstack this year. We are so excited to bring this to our school to replace AR. Please see the information below and notes coming home to encourage your child to further their love of reading as they participate in school, class, and individual challenges. We encourage parents to download the app and help the love of reading to grow in all students!

Reading....Where dreams take flight!
This year we would like to challenge you to read MORE, together at home while also making it fun.
Beanstack is the leading solution for motivating students to read by using completion, recognition, and proven gamification principles to grow a community reading culture. Beanstack encourages free-choice reading to build a diverse reading log, hit big reading goals and be rewarded for a job well down throughout the school year, without taking a test for points. Students and staff are excited for this change!
If your child has an emergency medication (Inhaler, EpiPen, etc.) please remember to provide it to the school nurse ASAP along with the order/parent permission form.
If your student is allergic to any foods, it is very important that the school has that information. If you have not communicated that to either the school nurse or the food service director, please do so.

Hello Cardinal families!
As the school counselor,
I am here to support students' academic, social, and emotional development throughout their time in elementary school. These are the different ways I might work with your student throughout the school year.
1. Individual Counseling: I offer one-on-one sessions to help students with personal concerns, emotional challenges, or social difficulties. Whether your child is experiencing anxiety, friendship issues, or any other personal matter, I am here to listen and support them.
2. Group Counseling: I conduct small group sessions on topics such as social skills, conflict resolution, and coping strategies. These groups provide students with tools to handle common issues and foster a supportive peer environment.
3. Classroom Lessons: I deliver lessons to all students on important topics like self-esteem, bullying prevention, and effective communication. These lessons are designed to promote positive behavior and help students develop essential life skills.
4. Crisis Intervention: In the event of an emergency or urgent situation, I am available to provide immediate support and coordinate with families and other school staff to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
5. Collaboration with Teachers and Parents: I work closely with teachers and parents to address students' needs and create strategies for academic and behavioral success.
If you have concerns about your child's progress or behavior, please feel free to reach out to me at lhogan@usd439.com."
