ETHS Students Present Engineering Project at NASA in Houston, Texas
Last week the NASA HUNCH students had the honor of presenting their projects to NASA astronauts, engineers, and the general public at Rocket Park in Johnson Space Center in Houston Texas. The group was chosen after a final design review back in February to represent some of the top projects around the country at Johnson Space Center. The group did a research study to find environmentally friendly ways to combat biofilms in space vehicles. Congratulations to the team.
By participating in the NASA HUNCH program the students gain valuable research and presentation skills that they will use in their future endeavors. The students pictured include Eleanor Lafreniere who will be attending UW-La Crosse and majoring in biology, Alex Cook who will be attending MSOE and majoring in civil engineering, Aidan Manske who will be attending UW-Platteville and majoring in software engineering, Lilly Aleckson who will be attending Viterbo University and majoring in biochemistry, and Marissa Cerny who will be majoring in chemical engineering.
The East Troy HUNCH program involves students choosing a task or project to design and present to representatives from NASA. Students form teams in September, choose a project from a list, and use the engineering process to design and present their projects in March. Please contact Ryan Manske (manrya@easttroy.k12.wi.us) at the high school for more information.

HOSA Qualifies for State Competition
The East Troy chapter of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) fundraised and studied all year for the opportunity to attend the State Leadership Conference! The event was held at the Chula Vista Resort in the Wisconsin Dells April 14-16.
We attended incredible breakout sessions, networked with other schools and health professionals, competed in a wide variety of events and of course spent a little time in the water park!
Congratulations to Riley Fitch for applying for and winning a HOSA scholarship this year!
Congratulations to Cadence Kroll (4th place - Medical Spelling), Isabella Peroceschi (4th place - Healthy Living), Hannah Feyen (5th place - Healthy Living), and Molly Pluess (4th place - Researched Persuasive Writing/Speaking)!
Any high school student interested in being a future health professional should consider joining HOSA!
April is National Poetry Month
For National Poetry Month, the ETHS Library is going to crowdsource a poem again this year. Submissions will be due this Friday, April 26. This year the prompts will be "I used to...but now I..." Students will be asked to answer the prompts in a Google form after which they can choose a tasty treat in the library. The library is partnering with Ms. Landherr's fundraising program to provide the treats.
Each participant will be allowed one entry. Enter by using the link/QR code flyer below. After Friday, lines/poetry will be selected to create a final poem which will be shared next week. Thanks to all who participated last year! Looking forward to seeing what this year brings.
