Sweeter than Pie
Pies for teachers and staff
To show our gratitude for our amazing Timber creek community, we would like to gift everyone working at Timber Creek Elementary (teachers and staff) a pie for their Thanksgiving table.
Please sign up via SignUp Genius to bring a delicious pie to the front office on November 25th or 26th! Store bought, restaurant bought and homemade are all equally appreciated - we just ask that homemade pies be clearly labeled.

Devices Coming Home
Starting next week, devices will be coming home daily in all grades. This will continue until we are out of the winter season.
Inclement Weather Days
During the 2024-2025 school year, inclement weather days will result in a virtual instruction day. These are also referred to as AMI days. AMI stands for Alternate Methods of Instruction. This means that students will learn at home on that day, and the school day will not be made up later in the year. For students in the Virtual Instruction Program of Ray-Pec (VIPR), classes will continue as usual. Students who attend school in-person will attend classes online or have learning activities pre-assigned to them.
Communication about inclement weather days
In the event of a virtual instruction day due to inclement weather, the district will use these methods to communicate effectively:
Our Focus School Software service will be used to send a recorded telephone message to all employees and student families.
A text message will be sent via Focus to employees and parents who have opted to allow SMS messaging. (Be sure that your contact information is up to date. Change requests in Focus.
The Focus Community App will have a notification. Sign up for the Focus App here.
All subscribers of RP Update, the district's electronic newsletter, will receive an email. Subscribe by sending a message to rp.update@raypec.org.
Information will be shared with local television stations (4, 5, 9, and 41).
An update will be available via the district information line at 816-892-3988.
The announcement will be posted on the district website, Facebook page, Instagram, and via X (Twitter).
Timing of the announcement
The decision to implement a virtual instruction day will be made as early as possible - preferably the night before. Sometimes conditions change overnight. In the event of rapidly changing weather conditions, a weather announcement may be made on the day of the cancellation. In those instances, we will try to send make the notification by 5:30 a.m.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
Regular and on-time attendance is important to students' success at school in all grade levels.
Research strongly supports the connection between a student's sense of belonging, academic achievement and attendance.
Did you know?
Being absent for two days of school every month adds up to about 10% of the school year. Missing that much instruction time can contribute to learning loss.
According to multiple studies, students may struggle to read proficiently by third grade, achieve at grade level in middle school and even graduate high school when they consistently miss days of instruction.
Makeup work is important to complete when a student does need to be absent, but it can't replace key elements of in-person learning, such as interactive, hands-on lessons, classroom discussions and direct access to teachers and resources.
Beyond grades and academics, a student's presence at school is vital for their personal growth. They miss opportunities to develop socially and gain skills in problem-solving and autonomy when they are absent.
Students need time to develop relationships with their teachers and classmates, and consistent attendance supports a stronger sense of safety, comfort and belonging at school.
Activity Calendar - Updated 9/19
Please take time to click the title above and read over the district guidelines for snacks. We follow these guidelines for birthday treats, so please look them. Sweet treats such as cupcakes, cookies, etc. are not allowed for passing out to classes for birthday celebrations. We encourage students to celebrate with no food items such as pencils, bookmarks, stickers, etc.
