AVID Family Night
This past week our AVID classes held our annual AVID family night; a time to come together as a community to have a meal AND sharing how the class is support their academic growth. Senior students spoke about how their partipation in AVID helped them with the college process and scholarship applications; encouraging the 9-11th grade students to continue in the program. Senior parents Aaron and Susan Byrd echoed their comments with a message about the impact it has made from a parent perspective.
Families participated in an AVID teambuilding activity prior to enjoying a meal catered by Mac's Diner!
BSU Showcase
The North Black Student Union hosted a family night "A Showcase in Black Excellence". Students, staff and families watched performances and heard from student and guest speakers. Celebrity Chef Ed Porter (Netflix's Pressure Cooker), Maia Maiden and Shanice Mason spoke to students and families about building strength in the community, celebrating black excellence and finding your passion. Following performances from student groups, guest shared a meal from Jamaican Tropical Bowl and family members of our BSU. It was an amazing night!
Northern Lights WIN Showcase
This past week students had the opportunity to see our Northern Light showchoir perform their award winning ensemble act and solos.
