A Message From the Principals
Welcome to the new school year!
We are thrilled to have your children back in our classrooms and look forward to an incredible year of learning, growth, and fun. Whether you are returning to our school community or joining us for the first time, we want you to know how excited we are to partner with you in your child’s educational journey.
This year promises to be filled with exciting opportunities, new friendships, and engaging lessons. Our dedicated teachers and staff have been working hard to prepare for your child's arrival, ensuring that they feel welcomed, supported, and inspired from the very first day.
In this newsletter, you’ll find important information about the start of the school year, upcoming events, and helpful reminders to ensure a smooth transition back to school. Please take a few moments to read through all the details and mark your calendars for key dates.
We’re looking forward to a wonderful year ahead and can’t wait to see the bright smiles and eager minds of our students in the hallways once again. Thank you for your continued support and trust in us to help your child thrive. Here’s to a fantastic school year!
With appreciation,
Nichole Cooper and Heather Markward

Welcome Class of 2037
This week we got to open our doors and welcome in our newest Bobcats! The pure joy and excitement that these students brought into our building is contagious! We can't wait to welcome back all our students this week as we get ready for our Meet the Teacher/Bobcat Kickoff Event!
Meet the Teacher/Bobcat Kickoff Event
We are super excited to open our doors on Tuesday August 13th beginning at 4:00 to welcome back all our Bobcats! During this fun filled family event that our PTO has organized, you and your family will receive a checklist of places to visit throughout the building. There will be opportunities to see some spirit wear, join our PTO, pay for school supplies, take a photo on the Barrington Rock, tour our school, and enjoy a popsicle on the playground with our principals!
School Supplies
It’s back! After hearing positive feedback last year, the PTO has again ordered school supplies in bulk for ALL Barrington students! No more searching store after store for a certain color folder or buying a 5-pack of glue sticks when you only need one!
For the convenient price of $35 per student, school supplies are ordered in bulk and delivered right to your child’s classroom in time for the first day. In addition to the tremendous cost savings to Barrington families, this process helps create equity among our students and ensures everyone has just what they need to kickoff the school year. Please use the link HERE to pay the $35 per student for school supplies.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Arrival and Dismissal
Students may arrive anytime between 8:00-8:15am.Students in grades 1-5 will go outside to the big playground on Barrington Road. Kindergarten students will go to the internal courtyard. All students will enter the building at 8:10am. For the safety of all our students please READ AND FOLLOW the information listed and linked below:
1. Pick Up and Drop Off Locations.
2. Stop, Drop, and GO Map and Procedures
3. Please talk with your student before school and have a PLAN for daily drop off and pick up. Teachers do not consistently check email during the day, and changing pick up plans is very stressful for our children. To the best of your ability (we know things happen) please create a plan and be as consistent as possible. Please be sure to also communicate that plan with your child's teacher and our office by filling out THIS form.
Ohio's State Tests Family Reports
Attention Parents of LAST YEAR'S 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Students:
The Ohio State Tests Family Reports from the spring of 2024 testing window have arrived. These assessment results have been viewable to you via your PowerSchool Portal. However, we are required to give you hard copies of the assessment. Parents, please be sure to get your child/children's reports at our Parent Information Night on August 22nd from their current classroom teacher. If you are unable to attend on this evening, we will send home the reports with your student on Friday August 23rd.
Technology Updates
New iPads
We are excited to share that each student will receive a new 10th generation iPad as the 2024-2025 school year begins. These new devices include a keyboard case plus increased storage, processor speed, and a USB-C charging cable and power adapter. Elementary Student devices will be automatically configured and ready for use on the first day of school. Students will turn in the old iPads during the first few weeks of school during the school day.
Stickers on iPads
Please do not apply stickers or write on the iPad keyboard cases, as devices may be reassigned to other students throughout the year. Reassignment occurs when students graduate, transfer, or when devices need repair. The new keyboard cases are district property and durable assets intended to last for several years, not consumable items.
Stylus Information for New iPads
We have received some questions about what stylus, or specifically Apple Pencil, would work with the new iPads that students are receiving for this school year. The answer is that, like the headphones, any USB-C stylus, including the Apple Pencil USB-C, will connect with the new 10th generation iPads. Students can also continue to use any non-USB-C stylus, such as the Apple Pencil 1st generation, but will need to purchase a USB-C adapter to connect the stylus to their new iPad. It is important to note that specifically the Apple Pencil Pro along with the Apple Pencil (2nd Generation) will NOT work with the student iPads.
