Planning for the 2024-25 School Year
Are you moving?
June is also a time when staff are planning for transitions for next year. We will share information about school organization and staffing later this month. If you have any specific questions about your child's placement for next year, please reach out to our school team. If you are moving, please communicate this information to your child's teacher and the main office. We would like to support your child's transition to their new school. We look forward to celebrating our outgoing grade 6 students on June 20th! Report cards will go home on June 26th
Earlier This Month:
Dear Families:
Thank you for supporting the Inclusive Playgrounds Project!
Thank you to Ms MacGillivray's kinder class, the DD program, and student council for running our Freezie Day in support of the inclusive Playground Project. They raised over $600 and donations are still being accepted until Monday, June 3rd. Thank you for your support!
Accessibility Week & Red Shirt Day!
Thank you to Ecole Polson Park SAC for funding our Mary Lambert concert!
Regional Track & Field Meet Success!
Go Panthers!
Polson students made us very proud with their respectful and focused behaviour throughout the day. They were a true team, supporting each other throughout the highs and the lows of a long day of competition. Hats off to all of our relay teams who are advancing to the Finals next Tuesday Congratulations to the following students who place in the top 7 overall in their divisions:
Atom Girls : Isla Adams (4th), Miracle Yang (7th)
Atom Boys: Theo James (2nd)
Bantam Girls: Julia Pennell (1st),
Bantam Boys: Mason Venditti (1st), Jake Archibald (6th)
We also had many students who placed top 5 in their events and will be competing on Tuesday at the District Championships. Thank you to all the staff coaches for supporting our athletes and to Coach Ormiston for all the extra time organizing this year's team events!

School Organization & Special Education Staffing
We’re beginning the staffing process for next year and have been approved for 8 English classes and 12 French Immersion classes based on a projected enrolment of 438 students at Polson next year. As always, this is subject to change based on actual enrolment in September. As well, as a part of the change in the Special Education Service Delivery model, Polson will be an intensive support site next year and will be staffed with a fulltime IST teacher as well as 1.5 student support teachers (currently we are staffed at .85). Additionally, we have received an increase in VP staffing(increasing from .6 to .75). This is great news for Polson. Once the staffing process is completed, we will share more information with families about next year's school organization.

Safe Arrival & Visitor Protocols
It's a very busy time in the morning, and we want to make sure students arrive safely and are accounted for correctly in attendance. Students arriving during morning supervision should be dropped off on the school yard. Students arriving late, should report to the main office. If you are dropping off a younger student after the bell, please report to the main office. Please do not proceed into the school building beyond the main office unless an office administrator has directed you to do so and you have followed the visitor protocol of signing in and receiving a visitor tag. Thank you for following our visitor protocols!
Parents and caregivers should meet students at dismissal (3:40 pm) at their designated dismissal location on the yard. Please do not request early pick-ups at the main office unless you have an emergency or a scheduled appointment. Thank you for communicating appointments in advance.
