Raney Intermediate School
Raney ROCKs Newsletter 11/9/24
Greetings Raney Knight Families,
It's progress report time!
Progress reports will be available on Parent Connect and Student Connect on Friday, November 15. Please be sure to check on your student's progress in their classes and their planner daily. There is still time left in the semester to make a real impact on grades. If your student is struggling, please have them speak with their teachers to come up with a plan for success. You can also email the teacher directly to support your child’s learning. We appreciate your partnership in supporting your child’s academic success.
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow
Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students access learning opportunities and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and on the job.
Raney Policy includes conferences, calls home, and detentions for students who are frequently tardy to class. Please be on time for 1st period. Arrive at 7:30am to ensure an easy transition and time for breakfast too. Below is our direct Attendance Line if you need to report an absence.
Did you know:
• Frequent absences can be a sign that a student is losing interest in school, struggling with school work, dealing with a bully or facing some other difficulty.
• By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of three signs that a student may drop out of high school.
• By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores.
• Missing 10%, or 2 days a month, over the course of the school year, can affect a student’s academic success.
What you can do:
Make school attendance a priority
• Talk about the importance of showing up to school every day.
• Help your teen maintain daily routines, such as finishing homework and getting a good night’s sleep.
• Try not to schedule dental and medical appointments during the school day.
• Keep your student healthy, and if you are concerned about an illness, call your school for advice.
• If your teen must stay home because they are sick, make sure they have asked teachers for resources and materials to make up for the missed learning time in the classroom.
Field Trips
We have had many field trips already this school year and have MANY more planned for this year. Please keep an eye out for communication from the school or staff members as we regularly need volunteers to help chaperone on field trips or special events on campus. You will need to fill out the District Volunteer Form.
Please look over the field trip permission slips and accompanying notes to make sure that you as a family are aware of specifics such as money for souvenirs or specific items to bring/leave. If the field trip return time is after the school day, please make sure to arrange a timely pick up for your student.
Stay Connected
We would like to thank all of the families that are taking the time to read our Raney ROCKs Newsletter every other week. Your support for our Raney ROCKs expectations, school events, and your child's learning is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for staying connected to help us ensure your child has a legendary experience at Raney.

Drop Off and Pick Up
Due to construction, our drop off and pick up will be different from last year. The gate by the Cafeteria Driveway will be closed to student access for the entire year.
All students can be dropped off and picked up next to the Solar-Panels Parking Lot. Please follow attached diagram. Enter through the driveway and loop around to the student Drop Off Area.
Bike Riders have a new gated area to lock their bicycles towards the back of the Solar-Panel Parking Lot. Students are to get off their bike and walk it in once they arrive onto school property.
The front parking lot is for busses and permitted cars only. Please do not drop students off in this parking lot.
For student safety and well being, we discourage students from being dropped off or picked up at Lincoln Park where there is no student supervision.
Morning Drop-off and Afternoon Pick-up
Have you noticed our new signs in the parking lot to help with the flow of traffic? Please pull forward to the orange cones and do not stop directly in front of the gate for students to exit or enter. This allows us to have more students exit or enter their cars at one time and keep the cars moving.
Daily Raney Schedule
Gates open at 7:30 a.m. Please arrive at school by 7:30 a.m. so that you will not be late to your first period class. Our EARLY OUT DAY is EVERY WEDNESDAY and begins on August 21.
