Weekly round up
5th July 2024
Low Ash weekly round up - week ending 12.7.24
It's been another busy week!
It may have been the penultimate full week of the school year, but it's been busier than ever! This week has been our Year 6 activity week (including the residential to Peat Rigg), we've had a Year 1 trip to Harewood House, a trip for some Year 5 pupils to watch and play with the Halle orchestra at St. George's Hall and a visit to a local mosque. In addition to this, the Nursery pupils have taken part in a treasure hunt around school and there have been school discos for children from Nursery to 5! There is definitely no 'winding down' at Low Ash! A big thank you to FOLA for organising the discos and for all those who volunteered.
Above you can see the Low Ash U8s and U9s football teams who played at High Crags Primary on Wednesday evening. Well done to both teams!
Summer fair
A reminder that our school summer fair is taking place after school on Monday 22nd July. We’re hoping for good weather! You will have the chance to walk alpacas, ‘soak a teacher’, ‘whack a mole’ and much more. We really hope you can join us to celebrate the end of the school year together.
Attendance
This week's school attendance is: 94.3%.
Low Ash school attendance for the year so far: 95%.
The classes of the week are 1P with 99% and 6LC with 99.3%.
We aim for 96% attendance but, currently, are falling short of this every week. We continue to have numerous requests for holidays from school. A reminder that we are unable to authorise any leave of absence for pupils unless there are exceptional circumstances. This week alone we are aware that 6 penalty notices have been issued to families.

Forest Schools
You might be aware that 2 of our members of staff are currently undertaking their Level 3 Forest School Practitioner training. From September, the plan is that Miss Taylor and Mrs Kellet (pictured cooking outdoors on our school field) will lead Forest School sessions for whole classes from across the school so all can benefit from this way of learning. Look out for more details!
If you don't know much about Forest Schools, the link below will take you to the Forest School Association homepage where you can find out more.
Bradford - City of Culture 'Les Girafes'
Some of you might be aware that Bradford has been voted as the City of Culture for 2025. Below is a link to the website which outlines events which are taking place. Over the summer holidays - on 24th August- 'Les Girafes' are taking to the streets of Bradford. A magical street performance will take place led by 7 towering giraffes. This event is free and we know our children would love it should you get the opportunity to go and see it!
Summer holidays
We know the summer holidays can be a really expensive time for families so below is a picture which outlines which places are providing meals for free for children (or for £1) during the holidays.
