Principal's Message
We have had a wonderful start to the school year! September always marks the shift from the so-called "honeymoon" phase at the start of the year into the meat of teaching and learning. I have enjoyed visiting classrooms and seeing all of the amazing teaching and learning happening. I am excited for you to hear about your child's growth during Parent-Teacher Conferences coming up later this month.
Volunteers
I am always thankful to all the volunteers that are essential to a well run school from those involved in PTA and WCEF to School Site Council volunteers and those who support classes during specials. We are still looking for a few more parents to help with Walking Club and School Site Council. Correction from last week: Attendance email typo. Correct email for reporting an absence is: fharvey@walnutcreeksd.org
Every Wednesday is a late start day with school starting at 8:55am for ALL grades and dismissing at 2:30pm (TK/K dismiss at 12:15pm). Students should not be dropped off any earlier than 15 minutes before the start times unless they are having breakfast. Breakfast starts a 7:45 on all days except Wednesday, which starts at 8:30.
Please do not park in the two spaces marked “Auction Winner” (even just for a minute). Those spaces are reserved for the families who won them at the Auction last year.
Mark your calendars for Fall Picture Day, Thursday, September 19th. More information and ordering instructions will be included in next week's Enews.

Fundraising Update
As of August 30, WCEF has raised over $340,000 – 21% of our $1.6M goal! Thanks to our amazing donors, key programs like TK-5 science lab, electives such as World Languages at WCI and Tice, and the Wellness Center at Las Lomas are available to our students because of you.
However, despite the generosity of many, we are currently tracking behind our goal for this time of year. Let's unite as a community, secure teacher salaries for this year, and ensure our students have access to programs and classes that otherwise would not exist.
