Spirit Day Thank You from the PVA: Spirit Day 2024 was a sunny success! We all kicked off the new school year with Selwyn Spirit! A heartfelt thanks for all your help with everything from setting up for the event, working at various stations or helping with clean up. From the registration table, bouncy castle, food, tattoos, dunk tank and games to making sure families were able to cross the road safely, the event was so much better because of your volunteering. Your adaptability, flexibility, patience and smiles when things got busy and hectic were truly appreciated! The sun was shining, and parents, staff and kids were having fun and laughing together, highlighting how special the Selwyn community really is. Stay tuned for our final donation numbers for the wonderful work of the Step by Step Child and Family Centre! Thank you so much for helping to make Spirit Day such a fun event that adds to the special fabric that is the Selwyn House community.

Terry Fox Run Follow-Up: Thank you to all the students and families who ran, cheered, and donated in support of our Selwyn House Terry Fox Run initiative. We raised just over $6200 for the Terry Fox Foundation to support cancer research, treatment, and care!

Parent Student Teacher Conferences: Grades 1 to 6 Parent Student Teacher Conferences by request of the teacher will take place on Thursday, October 3 from 4 to 8 pm in person at SHS. A paper form will be sent home with your son on Thursday, September 26 detailing the process to self-select appointments on our on-line interview system. As the time is limited we ask parents to only make appointments with the teacher(s) that have requested to meet with you. All parents will have the opportunity to meet with all teachers during the November 21 & 22 Parent Student Teacher Conferences.

Full Dress Uniform Required: The first day for full dress uniform for Grades 3-6 is Tuesday, October 15. Blazers and ties are expected. Short sleeved blue crested shirts can continue to be worn with the tie and blazer. Students may wear a long-sleeved school sweater in place of the blazer in and around school but blazers must be in school.

Truth & Reconciliation Week: During the week of September 23 through 30, the school will be engaging in learning opportunities and activities based on the theme: Taking Truth to Action, inspired by programming from the National Centre for Truth & Reconciliation. Students and staff will honour the lives lost from Canada’s residential school system on September 30 by wearing orange shirts. Students may wear ANY orange shirt on Sept. 30 with their uniform pants and proper school shoes. Our orange shirt design is the same as last year, featuring a two row wampum. You may purchase a shirt via this Google Form. Shirts will be available for pick up in the front office (please note this change). These orange shirts may also be worn throughout the year as part of the SHS physical education uniform. All proceeds will go towards an Indigenous organization in Kahnawake to be determined by the Indigenous Student Committee. PVA Invitation: The PVA (Parent Volunteer Association) invites all SHS new parents to join them on Tuesday, September 24 @ 8:15am for a coffee morning meet-up. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet other new parents. Meeting will be at Mouton Noir cafe at Westmount Rec Centre (4675 St- Catherine Street West Westmount H3Z 1S4). Sign up here.

Elementary School students should be dropped off as per the times and locations as indicated below. If a student absolutely must arrive at school before their designated time there will be supervision in the yard starting at 7:50am.
