Dear Students & Families,
I hope the cold weather, bluebird skies, and new snow are getting everyone excited for the ski season. As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to remind all of us to focus on gratitude: for this beautiful valley; for our family and friends; for everyone at Skico who works tirelessly to get our mountains ready; and for our incredible AHS community of staff, students, and families. I am grateful for all of you!
IB Spotlight
IB Music students are deep in the study of the Baroque historical time period. Compositions include a study of counterpoint and fugue in the style of JS Bach. Cerys Hembury and Madison Nelson have demonstrated exquisite ability in composition of this time period.
Skier Spolight
⭐Congratulations to Eleanor Carroll for making the Colorado All State Choir! This is a huge honor as she was selected from a pool of students from the entire state of Colorado. Way to go Eleanor!
⭐Congratulations to Treven Ward for earning his Private Pilot’s License! Teven has been able to achieve this incredible milestone because of his work ethic as he manages a rigorous course load and countless hours flying. We are so proud of Treven!

NEXT ROUND OF DEADLINES & THANKSGIVING OFFICE CLOSURE
The next round of college application deadlines is right around the corner, and seniors are encouraged to schedule meetings with either Karen or Brennan to make sure they are on track for November 15th early action/early decision deadlines, University of California and Cal State November 30th deadlines, and regular decision deadlines in December and beyond. Keep in mind that the Post-Secondary Counseling office is closed during Thanksgiving break - please plan ahead so that we can support you. We highly recommend that students submit their Cal State and UC applications the week of Nov 18 (ie before Thanksgiving).

PROCTORED PRACTICE SAT | Wednesday, December 4th
Your Post-Secondary Counselors highly encourage juniors to take a practice SAT before the School Day SAT in April. A free proctored practice SAT is being offered after school on Wednesday, December, 4th from 2:15-5:00 pm. Students need to register for this practice test via this link. Upon completion, students will receive an analysis of test results. Students who cannot take the practice test at school on December 4th, can register to take the test at home (self-proctored) between December 4th and 8th. Students with approved accommodations, who want to take the practice test, should register for the at home version.

Seniors!! Class of 2025!!
The yearbook aims to provide a variety of senior coverage and there are certain traditions that we plan to continue this year, including senior portraits. Senior portraits are an opportunity for seniors to move away from the traditional school photo and submit their own photo to the yearbook. These must be vertical portrait-style photos. Many local photographers can be hired for this purpose, but it is not necessary. If your student would like to work with our photography team, please do not hesitate to reach out and we will set them up with a student photographer.
Seniors also select a quote to place under their photo in the yearbook. The quote must be school appropriate and short enough to fit under their photo.
Senior photos and quotes will be due on December 1.
To submit Senior photos, email the jpg file to yearbookphotos81611@gmail.com.
Please include the quote in the email as well.
Additionally, Senior Recognition Ads are on sale now. If you have a senior you would like to recognize, please use this link.
Travel Opportunity!! Ecuador!!
Students, join Kate Korn & Cory Parker for an adventure! They are really excited to share that they are planning another EF tour trip next summer, 2025... to Ecuador!
When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and we would love to have your student join us on this adventure.
There are limited spots on this trip. Contact Kate Korn at kkorn@aspenk12.net, to learn more about this exciting opportunity!
