Smile Bridlemile!

Dear Bridlemile Families,


Ask your Beagle about our all-school assembly yesterday! It was an opportunity to be in community together, recognize and celebrate our accomplishments, and of course sing our Smile Bridlemile song!

Beagles share and show they care

Keen ears might notice a lyric change. We reached out to the Smile Bridlemile songwriter, none other than our beloved Ms. Barlow, for help in ensuring our school song reflects our inclusive values. We love Ms. Barlow’s update and we’re sure you will too. Our Beagles have been breaking out in song during lunchtime to show what they know. Just say, “Smile Bridlemile” to your Beagle and see what happens!

Lost and Found

We still have jackets, clothing and water bottles we’d like to reunite with their Beagles. Remember to label clothing with your child’s name–this helps!

Reading Challenge!

Our school wide Reading Challenge is underway! Students are reading and sending in their reading logs to help work towards a Mystery Island prize for the whole school! We also wrap up our reading celebration with a visit from two-time Oregon Book Award winner author Waka T. Brown! Pre-order Books sales are available at https://annieblooms.com/bridlemile-event.

November is Native American Heritage Month

The PPS Indian Education Program gifted schools with flags representing the nine tribal nations of Oregon. Look for the flags at Bridlemile the next time you visit. PPS Indian Education Program also shared lessons written by Grande Ronde teacher Gina Rentz to accompany the flags.


Today’s school lunch included Harissa Roasted Butternut Squash with Quinoa and Yogurt Sauce! This recipe was created by Indigenous Chef Nephi Craig for Oregon State University Extension’s Indigenous Peoples Workgroup. To read more about Indigenous squash and school lunch, click here

Food Drive

The Bridlemile Food Drive will start on Monday, November 18th and run through Monday, November 22nd.


The 5th Grade Leadership food drive will go to support a local non-profit organization, Neighborhood House Food Pantry. Click HERE for more detailed information.

Site Council

Next Site Council Meeting is Wednesday, December 4th, 4:30pm-5:30pm. Site Council will be reviewing SCIP goals. meet.google.com/oym-bsch-hkj

Successful Schools Survey!

PPS sends out an annual survey to students, staff and families to gather information about schools. At Bridlemile, we use the School Success Survey results to inform our school improvement plan goals regarding school climate and culture.


Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. Families with more than one student in PPS can respond for their eldest student or take the survey more than once.

Grades 3-5 students will be taking a student survey in school in the next two weeks. (District-wide, all students in grades 3-12 will take the PPS survey.) One of Bridlemile’s school improvement goals is to increase student sense of belonging. To ensure that we have a complete picture of all students, our Bridlemile climate committee has created a separate K-2 survey to gather student feedback.

Come join Garden teacher Max after school on the early release day, Wednesday 11/20 at noon.

You can get your hands dirty, prepare the garden for winter, drink hot chocolate & make a garden craft. All are welcome!
