Egg Harbor Township High School
Week of April 6, 2025
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Dear EHTHS Families,
It’s been another exciting week filled with student achievements, great events, and performances that continue to showcase the spirit, dedication, and excellence of our students and our school.
Our Freshman students concluded their unit on the Atlantic Revolutions with a delicious and creative project. To demonstrate their understanding of historical causes and effects, students created desserts that symbolized the root causes of various revolutions. Each ingredient represented a factor such as economic hardship, political oppression, or social inequality. This innovative approach not only reinforced critical thinking but made history a truly tasty experience!
We're proud to announce the students selected to represent EHTHS and Atlantic County at this summer’s NJ American Legion Boys and Girls State Programs—a prestigious and immersive leadership experience that teaches the principles of American democracy through hands-on government simulations. Congratulations to our Girls State Delegates Monica Eskandar and Caleigh Paskalides and alternates Somaiya Alam and Tanzina Haque and our Boys State Delegates Carter Chew, Alan Mejia Aleman, and Andres Varela Meinl. Congratulations to all our delegates and alternates for earning this honor!
Our talented EHTHS Jazz Band, led by Mr. Milnes, traveled to Pennsville High School for the TIA Jazz Competition. Their set earned them an "Outstanding" rating—a true testament to their hard work and talent. A special congratulations goes to senior Chris De La Rosa, who once again earned the prestigious Best Soloist Award for his exceptional drumming. The band is now preparing for the Region 1 Championships, hosted right here at Egg Harbor Township High School, followed by a trip to the TIA Jazz Championships in Wildwood on Friday, May 2. This week, they took part in the renowned Berks Jazz Festival in Reading, Pennsylvania. Their performance for a panel of expert adjudicators earned them high praise, and they received one-on-one feedback during a special clinic with Albert Rivera (renowned multi-instrumentalist) and Gerald Veasley (celebrated bassist). The rhythm section earned the Best Rhythm Section Award, and once again, Chris De La Rosa was honored as the Outstanding Soloist. Students also had the rare opportunity to participate in masterclasses with GRAMMY-winning Latin jazz pianist Zaccai Curtis, legendary saxophonist Eric Marienthal, and guitarist Rodney Jones. This was truly an unforgettable, enriching experience!
The Tri-M Induction Ceremony celebrated our most dedicated music students. Our students gave inspiring performances. That evening, they were recognized for their the hard work and achievements.
Congratulations to our Indoor Percussion team, who competed at the MAPS Open Class Finals and earned 3rd place with a score of 84.2—an incredible achievement as this marks the first time in school history that the team earned a bronze medal in this division. We are incredibly proud of the students and thankful for the tremendous support from our administration, families, and the dedicated team behind this show: Bent Out of Shape.
Under the direction of Mr. Tinsley, our choir recently traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete in the WorldStrides Heritage Festival at Universal Studios, and they did not disappoint! Their performance was truly an outstanding example of EHT talent.

The event was an unforgettable experience for the students, combining performance, professional feedback, and inspiring musical encounters.
The band performed for a panel of adjudicators and received valuable feedback during a clinic led by renowned multi-instrumentalist Albert Rivera and celebrated bassist Gerald Veasley. Beyond their performance, students attended master classes led by world-class musicians, including Eric Marienthal (legendary saxophonist for Chick Corea) and Rodney Jones (acclaimed jazz guitarist). Staffulty of the Month
#DAY 1
The High School will be continuing with this bullying-prevention program for the 2024-25 school year!
#DAY1--a staff and student-led philosophy that will serve to foster a building-wide atmosphere of kindness and inclusion, outline expectations for behavior toward each other and the responsibility to intervene, report and to reach out for help if individuals observe bullying behavior.
This program was started a few years ago in Bergen County by the Tyler Clementi Foundation and has gained momentum throughout the state and country for use in schools, community groups, workplaces, and sports teams.
The premise is simple: the adults in the building make a “declaration statement” about behavior that is expected, as well as behavior that is unacceptable, and we all pledge to conduct ourselves accordingly.
This includes seeking help when we witness unacceptable behavior occurring--this notion is called being an Upstander--an #EHTUPSTANDER. Hit the play button below and see for yourself! 🤩
Has YOUR student taken their #Upstander Pledge yet?!?
Have them sign into their school account and click here! 😊
🌟 THE SOPHOMORES CURRENTLY HAVE THE MOST #EHTUPSTANDER PLEDGES!🌟
