Join us as we select 20 teachers to participate in the Region 5 WeTeach_CS Secondary Certification Hub for a well-designed professional learning experience to prepare you to take and pass the TExES 241 8-12 Computer Science Certification Exam or the TExES 242 EC-12 Technology Applications Certification Exam.

WeTeach_CS is dedicated to the mission of the CS for All movement by building the capacity of K-12 educators with the content knowledge and skills needed to bring high quality computing education to their students.
Participate in the hybrid secondary certification hub for a well-designed professional learning experience to prepare you to take and pass the TExES 241 8-12 Computer Science Certification Exam or the TExES 242 EC-12 Technology Applications Certification Exam. Choose from one of the pathways below.
Computer Science 8-12 Certification Pathway
Region 5 will accept 10 cohort members
Cohort Timeline: February 2025 - March 2026

Howdy Meeting
Programming Language Immersion Course (CMU CS - Python based)
Foundations of CS for Teachers
CS 8-12 Certification Prep Training
CS 8-12 Practice Packet
Must challenge the CS 8-12 Cert Exam by August 31, 2025
Academic Year experiences in CS pedagogy and/or additional test prep as needed
Administrator Letter of Support
Program Benefits
Professional Development Stipend $2,000
Additional $1,000 for success on CS 8-12 Certification Exam
Testing fee reimbursed for up to two exam attempts

Technology Applications Certification Pathway

NOTE: Teachers who are CS 8-12 certified are not eligible for this Pathway
This pathway is designed to certify Grades 6-8 teachers who will be teaching Technology Applications and/or fundamental Computer Science Courses at the middle school level.

Tech Apps EC-12 Cert Prep Training
Tech Apps EC-12 Cert Prep Practice Questions
Curriculum Training (aligned to Fundamentals of CS or CS Principles)
Must challenge the Tech Apps EC-12 Cert Exam by August 31, 2025
Academic Year experiences in CS Pedagogy and/or additional test prep as needed

Additional $200 for success on certification exam
