Graduation Information
Graduation is scheduled for Saturday, May 28th, 2:00pm. It will take place at the College Park Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington, 600 S. Center St. Arlington.
Our mission is to provide each of you and your families a wonderful memory of High School Graduation. In order to accomplish this, we need everyone’s assistance with the following items:
Seating and Tickets:
Seating is general admission, first come-first served seating however, due to capacity, graduates are to be given 12 total tickets for their guests.
All who enter the facility will need a ticket.
The doors to College Park Center will open at 12:30 p.m. There will not be any access to seating prior to 12:30pm.
Tickets will be distributed to graduates on Wednesday, May 18th during lunches.
There are no extra tickets.
Proper Attire for the Official Ceremony:
No flip flops, athletic shoes, or house shoes will be permitted to be worn by graduates during the ceremony.
Jeans, sweats, wind pants, shorts, or tee shirts are not appropriate.
Males will need to be in a collared shirt, dress pants, and dress shoes or boots.
Females should wear a dress or slacks and dress shoes or nice boots.
Mortar boards (Graduation caps) shall not be decorated.
Graduation Practice and Ceremony:
In order to provide more parking for attendees, we will be transporting ALL graduates by bus to the ceremony from CHS. Graduates MUST ride the bus in order to participate.
Graduates should report to the front parking lot at CHS (off Hurst Road) by 11:45am on graduation day and go directly to the cafeteria. The cafeteria will be set up exactly like the ceremony.
After a brief meeting, everyone will board school buses to travel to UTA. Buses will depart by 12:15.
Be sure to have your cap and tassel, gown, and any cords or stoles you are permitted to wear (only items given to you by CHS are permissible). These will be distributed the week prior to graduation..
There is no place at UTA to store purses, bags, etc. Those should be left in your car or with a family member.
Any behavior that detracts from the ceremony will be dealt with immediately and removal from the ceremony will be the result of such behavior. This would be embarrassing for all involved.
Diplomas will be distributed as the ceremony ends and the graduates are on their way out of the building. All fines owed to CHS must be paid in order to receive your diploma. If a student still owes money on the date of graduation, their diploma will be available at CHS during normal working hours once the fines have been paid.
Upon completion of the ceremony, graduates will exit the building. You will be able to either load back on a bus for a return trip to CHS or you will be free to leave with your family.
Please remember, the graduation ceremony is meant to be conducted with dignity and, while celebration is appropriate and expected, such displays should be in accordance with accepted community standards. We look forward to celebrating this momentous occasion with the Class of 2022!

Dismissal Procedures
If you as a parent are coming to school to sign our your student in person, you just need to come to the front desk to sign your student out of school. If you are wishing to sign your student out to leave unaccompanied, a note provided by the parent must be submitted to the main office no later than two hours prior to the student’s need to leave campus. This can be in the form of a written note or an email, but not a phone call. Please note, that it must be a parent/guardian that is signing a student out. This will enable us to document in writing for our processes.
Please understand that for state auditing procedures, a blanket notification to release a student every day or an extended period of time cannot be accepted. Notification for release of a student must be sent for any or each day that a student needs to be released for any reason in order to document appropriately.

Important Information about House Bill 4545 Tutorials
In the 2021 Legislative Session, House Bill 4545 was passed which required all students in third grade through high school to have thirty hours of tutoring for each STAAR/ EOC test not passed. BISD responded by making adjustments to the schedule to include time within the school day for tutoring. The Texas Education Agency has provided a list of approved vendors as curriculum providers to work with districts to deliver high-impact tutoring. In the next week, BISD will implement this high-impact tutoring with students in grade six through twelve. Learn more about FEV Tutor and the BISD tutoring program here and at fevtutor.com.
Electronic Cigarettes and Tobacco Products
Along with being against the law, the products have been shown to lead to possible health issues. Our main priority is to keep students as safe as possible while at school. In doing so, we will be vigilant in dealing with students in possession.
CHS is a drug, alcohol, and tobacco free zone.
