Hello Art Rutkin Elementary Families,
This week, we have been celebrating the hard work and dedication of our staff with special attention to our classified staff. We are thankful everyday for all that our staff does to support our students and school community. Thank you to our PSO for also sharing appreciation to our licensed and support staff this week. Our students enjoyed recognizing them through a variety of activities as well. We are enjoying some sunny weather this week, and we hope you have been able to get outdoors and enjoy it too.
Important safety reminder and bus route information:
Parking Lots: Please remember to drive slowly and safely through the school parking lots to ensure the safety of all students, visitors and staff.
Bus Routes: The bus routes have been updated due to some recent changes where students need to have safe bus stops. Please see that information in this Ram Report.
Free breakfast and lunch at school:
We are excited that many more students are now choosing to have breakfast and lunch at Art Rutkin Elementary. All students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch here at school for the rest of this school year. The more students who choose breakfast and lunch at school the better to continue to be part of this program. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity! Call our office for more information. 503 431-3500.
Breakfast: Breakfast is available between 7:45-8:00 AM. If students are not done eating they are able to finish at their desks in class as the day gets started. Please contact your child’s teacher with questions.

Message from Nutrition Services
We are pleased to inform you that Art Rutkin Elementary is participating in the National School
Lunch and School Breakfast Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for School
Year 2023-2024. This program (CEP) starts on March 1st, 2024.
What does this mean for you and your children? Free school breakfast and lunch for your
children through the end of the school year!
All enrolled students at Art Rutkin Elementary are eligible to receive a healthy school breakfast
and lunch at school at no charge to your household for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school
year starting on March 1st, 2024. No further action is required of you. Your children will be able
to participate in these meal programs without having to pay for meals or submit an application.
If your children attend schools that are not participating in CEP, your household may still need
to fill out a confidential meal application or pay for meals.
- Reminder to turn off autopay on your student’s LINQ Connect account if you are currently using it.
- You are welcome to keep all funds in your student’s account for when they go to middle and high school. Funds stay with your student throughout their time at TTSD.
- You can also transfer the funds to a sibling in your student’s account.
- Donations can be made by sending an email to TTSDfoodservice@ttsd.k12.or.us with your student’s information and requesting the money be donated.
- To request a refund, please find the form through the TTSD nutrition services webpage.

Chess Wizards Spring Term Information
Is your child interested in being part of the chess club and missed winter term or does your child want to continue on with spring term? Chess Wizards is looking for at least 10 students to get signed up for spring term. Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 in our maker space starting on April 3rd. The program will run for 9 Wednesdays between April 3 - June 5th. See the attached flyer with all the details. Bus transportation is not offered.
TTSD Talented & Gifted Education Community Meeting
TTSD TAG parents and guardians are invited to a community meeting originally planned for January 23 but now will be held March 12 from 6-7PM via Zoom. TAG specialists and administrators look forward to sharing information regarding how students are served who have qualified for Talented and Gifted Services in TTSD, profiles of giftedness, and information regarding the social and emotional needs of TAG students. There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of our presentation. This meeting will be recorded and will be posted on our TTSD TAG website for future viewing.

Save the date! Twality Schools United Multicultural Festival
We are excited to share that this year we are partnering with neighboring schools in hosting our multicultural festival! This year's theme is: Twality Schools United! There are so many ways to support this event and our Schools (Twality, Templeton, Art Rutkin, Alberta Rider, Dear Creek, Durham, Creekside CHS). This year's festival will take place on May 31st, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. at Twality Middle School. Let us know how you would like to contribute by filling out the survey here.
