LETTING THE ARROWS FLY
"Arrows are made to shoot toward the enemy, not sit idly in a quiver."
"The Psalmist described children as a heritage from the Lord, and that every man should be happy who has his quiver full of them. And what is a quiver full of but arrows? And what are arrows for but to shoot? So, with the strong arms of prayer, draw the bowstring back and let the arrows fly - all of them, straight at the Enemy's hosts." - J.D. Greear
The point is that our students (children) are the future of our faith and we (children of God) are the future of our faith as well. We cannot sit idly in the quiver. Too often we believe that there are only a few who are called into ministry. Every follower of Jesus is called to leverage his or her life for the great commission.
"Not everything that comes from heaven has your name on it. But something does. Figure out what that is, and get after it." - Larry Osbourne
As Christians we have to understand that we have to make this life here on earth count. Not in terms of money but in terms of purpose and the propitiation of the Gospel.
"What we do in life echoes in eternity" - Maximus Decimus Meridius, Gladiator
We have to understand that wisdom begins by viewing your life from the end and acting in a way now that will get you to that end. The choices we make on this side of heaven have eternal impact and leave a legacy for others to learn and follow.
A great philosopher of our time, Jim Carrery put it this way:
"I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it's not the answer." - Jim Carrery
The nearness of eternity makes us realize that only two things really matter in life: the glory of God and the souls of people.
Such a great reminder that God has blessed us all with our own specific platform. On that platform we get to choose to advance the Kingdom of God or cower to the world.
Will you sit idly in the quiver?
Lead NWA well this week!
