South MS Friday Blast

Big thanks go out to our wonderful SCN and South MS families for fun events celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week. It was a week filled with donuts, snacks, pens, coffee & muffins, and an ice cream sundae bar giving our teachers a fun theme each day. We also celebrated our wonderful nurses, Mrs. Anders and Mrs. Buso for National Nurse's Day this Wednesday. South MS has the BEST nurses and we appreciate them taking good care of ALL of us.

We also extend our thanks to everyone who came out last night for the SCN Dine & Donate at The Horse Tavern & Grill. SCN fundraising events directly benefit South MS students.

Thanks to the ongoing support of Rachel's Closet at South MS, we are happy to provide a bag of summer hygiene necessities to your child free of charge. If you feel your child can benefit from this, please complete this form. All submissions will be kept confidential. Due to the number of students we serve, we need to limit the bags to South students only. The bag will be sent home with your child during the last week of school.

Hi South Families! The Color Run is almost here! It is only 3 weeks away. Due to a scheduling conflict, the Color Run is now on Thursday, May 30th and will happen rain or shine. In order to help make the Color Run a success, we are in need of some donations. The donations will be used as raffle prizes. All donations go toward your child's fundraising goal. As the weather begins to get warmer, we ask that parents/guardians help their child(ren) use good judgment when making their daily school outfit selections. Some reminders:

• Shorts, skirts, and dresses should be no shorter than mid-thigh in length.
• The following are not permitted: cut-offs, boxers, or spandex shorts of any style, spaghetti straps, halter tops, tank tops, muscle shirts, or any tops that expose the midriff.

Having children of my own, I completely understand how today's trends can make this difficult at times. However, we ask for your assistance and cooperation in this matter. Thanks!

1. Please remind students to charge their laptops every night.
2. Please remind students of the importance of listening carefully to AM and PM announcements for up-to-the-minute information that might affect their school day schedule.
3. If your child is going to be absent from school please call the school office at 215-257-0467 to inform us of the absence, or e-mail us at SMSattendance@pennridge.org with your child's name, grade, and reason for absence (illness, family trip, etc.).
4. If your child is being dismissed early for any reason (dentist appt, doctor appt, family trip, etc.) please call the school office at 215-257-0467 or e-mail us at SMSattendance@pennridge.org with your child's name, grade, and reason for early dismissal.
5. If your child is going to be arriving late to school, please call the school office at 215-257-0467 or e-mail us at SMSattendance@pennridge.org with your child's name, grade, and reason for tardiness (overslept, not feeling well, etc.) to inform us of the late arrival.
6. Notification of absence, early dismissal, or late arrival will help us notify your child's teachers why the student is not in class. Thank you!
7. If your family has an emergency situation where your child(ren) needs to ride a different bus for a day and you are unable to reach the school for a bus pass, you should email transport@pennridge.org to explain the situation and request the temporary change of bus. This email address is monitored constantly to communicate with a driver. Any questions, please contact our transportation department directly at 215-453-2725. Thank you!
