March 6th, 2025
What an amazing and fun-filled night we had last week at the Black Excellence Night event! The energy in the building was inspiring as we came together to celebrate culture, talent, and achievement. A huge thank you to our incredible teachers and staff for their unwavering support and dedication in making the night so special. Your hard work and commitment truly shined through.
We also want to give a big round of applause to our talented students who showcased their gifts and put in so much effort to make the event memorable. From performances to presentations, their hard work was evident and appreciated by all. And, of course, a heartfelt thank you to our families and community members for showing up and making the evening even more meaningful. Your presence and support remind us of the strength and unity within our community. We look forward to many more celebrations!
Classified Employees Week
As we reflect on what makes our school such a special place, we want to take a moment to recognize the outstanding contributions of our classified employees. From our dedicated Kindergarten EAs and paras who support all learners, to our custodial staff who ensure our school remains a clean and welcoming environment, we are so grateful for each of you. A huge thank you to our Nutrition Services team, who nourish our students with healthy meals, and to our secretaries, whose hard work and organization keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
We truly could not be the amazing, safe, and healthy school we are without your dedication, care, and effort. Your commitment to our students, staff, and community is what makes this place shine. Thank you for everything you do!
Connect to Kinder Family Information Sessions
We are happy to be hosting Connect to Kinder information sessions! If you have a kinder-aged child, please join us! If you know of someone who has a kinder-aged child, please share this with them so they can join us. If you attended the February event, you do not need to attend the other events, as they cover the same information.
Scottie Paw Goal Met!
We are excited to share that our school has reached our school-wide Scottie Paw goal! To celebrate this amazing achievement, three lucky students had the opportunity to come up on stage during the assembly and throw pies in the faces of Ms. Ahmann, Ms. Selam, and Mr. Nicholas! It was a fun and memorable moment for all of us, and we are so proud of our students for working together to achieve this goal.

Ready-Tech-Go Event March 20th 6pm-8pm
Hello, Scotties!
We hope you’re enjoying these last few weeks of winter. On March 20th, the first day of Spring, we’re holding a workshop in addition to our regular Scott School PTA Community Meeting, called “PTA Connected: Ready, Tech, GO!” Dinner will be provided, as well as Spanish interpretation, and there’s going to be a raffle with some awesome prizes - including a Nintendo Switch, a karaoke machine, and a gimbal (IYKYK)! “Ready, Tech, GO!” is all about learning how to have positive and productive discussions with our kids about how they use technology, how they engage with the internet, and how we might all have better relationships with our internet-enabled devices.
There are three ways we would like to invite you to prepare for this event March 20 at 6 p.m. at Scott School:
Get more information about the meeting and RSVP here!
If you turn on Screen Time for iPhone or Digital Wellbeing for Android, you’ll come to the workshop with an informed understanding of how (and how much) you’re using your own device. This will help you guide your children through understanding their usage habits.
Our school guidance counselor, Mr. Hildner, has prepared a Screen Use Survey that will give us a better idea of which topics to focus on during our workshop. It will only take about 2 minutes to fill out, and that will really help us provide relevant materials.
Thanks for your support and your participation. We’ll see you in Spring!
Dinner & Spanish interpretation provided

Lockdown Drill
Dear Scott Families,
Scott students and staff will be participating in a Lockdown drill on March 14th at 10:30 am.
Lockdown actions are initiated whenever there is an active threat against the safety of our school. This action includes “Locks, Lights, Out of Sight” and works to create a time barrier until our first responders can arrive at the scene. Lockdown emergency actions save lives, and conducting such drills helps to better prepare our staff and students if a threatening situation were ever to occur at our school.
We understand that these types of active threat drills can cause some anxiety for students and staff. Please know that our staff are working to connect with students in advance of the drill in an age appropriate way to help ease any anxiety and better support students who may be negatively impacted.
Spring Garden Work Party
Join the Scott PTA Green team next Saturday to prepare the gardens for an abundant Spring season! Tasks include spreading gravel on the pathways, adding new plants and seeds, pulling weeds, pruning and repairing the large garden sign, which was blown over in the recent wind storms. We will have tasks for all skill and abilities, plus art projects for those that prefer a more easeful task. Snacks and tools provided. March 15th 9am-12pm in the main garden (off NE 66th ave).
Spring Plant Sale
The Spring PTA plant sale fundraiser is now open to accept orders! Hanging flower baskets are back, along with a wonderful selection of ornamental flowers, vegetables and herb plants for your gardens. There is also an option this year to donate a plant, which will provide plants for teachers and the school garden. Place orders by April 18th. Plant pick up is May 9th from 2-6pm at the Redemption Church lawn, across the street from Scott on NE Prescott. Thank you for supporting the PTA efforts to provide student and community enrichment events!
A member of our Scott School community has a citrus allergy. We ask that all citrus foods, drinks and products (for example cleaning supplies and lotions) are kept at home at all times. We appreciate your cooperation and support in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all.
