**Wilbanks Middle School Principal’s Newsletter Letter to Parents**
Dear Wilbanks Families,
I hope this message finds you well! I am excited to share that next week we will be observing Red Ribbon Week, a time dedicated to promoting healthy, drug-free lifestyles among our students. We have a variety of fun and engaging activities planned to show our school spirit and commitment to staying drug-free, as well as spreading awareness about anti-bullying and cancer initiatives.
Here’s a rundown of our themed dress-up days for the week:
Monday: Country or Country Club Day – Students can wear their favorite country attire or dress up in their best country club fashions.
Tuesday: Anything but a Backpack Day – Let’s see those creative alternatives! Students can carry their school supplies in anything but a traditional backpack.
Wednesday: Jersey and Hat Day – Show support for your favorite sports team by wearing jerseys and hats.
Thursday: Decades Day – Students can dress up in styles from their favorite decade, whether it’s the roaring ’20s or the groovy ’70s!
Friday: Pink Out Day – In honor of cancer awareness, students are encouraged to wear pink in support of this important cause.
In addition to our dress-up days, we are thrilled to host our annual Powder Puff Game on Friday. This exciting event will take place during the school day and gives our students the chance to showcase their athletic skills while raising money for Relay for Life. Thank you to all the students who have returned their signed permission slips to participate!
As part of our fundraising efforts, we will recognize the House that raises the most money for Relay for Life, rewarding them with a special tailgate party before the game. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to come together, have fun, and contribute to an incredibly worthwhile cause.
Thank you, parents, for your continued support and encouragement. Your involvement makes a positive difference in the lives of our students and our school community. Let’s make this Red Ribbon Week a memorable one!
Warm regards,
Chris Chitwood

The Book Club at Wilbanks Middle School is a part of the Tome Student Literacy Society (Tome Society). Tome Society serves students in grades 2-12 by providing a diverse menu of digital student competitions; an annual book award list of new, clean, fun-to-read children's and young adult literature titles; student book club activities; curriculum materials for educators; and the TomeCon annual conference for both students and educators. All activities promote self-esteem, leadership skills, character ethics, and nurture critical thinking, creativity, and imagination in the digital age.
The Tome Society Book Club at Wilbanks had 2 students read the first three books and complete the first reading bowl quiz in October. Congratulations to Celie Smith and Patrick Schupp for doing an outstanding job!
Some 7th-grade Tome Book Club members recently met with author Kevin Sands. Mr. Sands virtually met with the students from Wiblanks Middle about his new book Children of the Fox, one of the 10 books on the Tome Book Club list.
