Message from Superintendent Dr. Latrice N. Mumin
Greetings, CUSD Families!
I can’t believe tomorrow is May. That means we have just over one month left in the school year.
Last week, we celebrated Administrative Professionals' Day, and I want to take another moment to thank all of our amazing administrative professionals across our schools and central office.
PSSA testing is finishing up for our students in grades 3–8, and everyone at CUSD is incredibly proud of their hard work.
Up next, Keystone Exams for our 11th graders will take place from May 12 through May 23.
This edition of Clipper Connection highlights several exciting initiatives/events that have recently taken place throughout the district and we have a NEW project to share in the very next story. I hope you enjoy.
Introducing Our “Student Voices: Power of Positivity” Series
At CUSD, we believe our students' voices are one of our greatest strengths.
This year, the Department of Student Success and Engagement helped to lead the creation of the “Student Voices: Power of Positivity Series,” highlighting the kindness, pride, and spirit our scholars bring to their schools every day.
From small acts of kindness to making a difference in their school communities, our students shared reflections that inspire us all.
I encourage you to take a few minutes to watch the full video below. It’s heartfelt, uplifting, and absolutely worth your time.
We’ll also be sharing shorter clips from the video on social media over the next few weeks, along with some fun behind-the-scenes photos. Our students continue to lead us toward a brighter future, and their voices remind us why.
Join Us for Law Day 2025
I’m proud to share that CUSD, in partnership with the City of Chester,
the Delaware County Bar Association, Delaware County Court of Common Pleas, and the Chester Education Foundation will host our annual Law Day celebration THIS Friday, May 2.
This year, we are excited to welcome a special guest— Mayor Jaylen Smith (Earle, Arkansas), the youngest African American elected mayor in U.S. history.
Families are invited to tune in via livestream to two key moments:
1. The student-led TED Talk-style session at 10:00 AM.

In Case You Missed It (#ICYMI)
Former Philadelphia Eagles Great, Brian Dawkins, Visits CUSD
This past Friday was a special day for our students at STEM and Chester High School!
Thanks to the support of our Athletics Department led by AD LaDontay Bell, we partnered with the Philadelphia Union Foundation to bring the iAM Project’s Inspirational Speaker Series to the district.
Our high schoolers were able to hear from NFL Hall of Famer and former Philadelphia Eagles great Brian Dawkins, who shared powerful messages about leadership, mental wellness, and making good choices.
It was exciting to see our students so tuned in and inspired by someone who truly understands what it means to overcome challenges and chase your dreams.
We’re so grateful to our Athletics team for helping make this happen and to the Union Foundation for ensuring CUSD students have access to these types of opportunities.
Flag Football Celebrates Seniors
Recently, CUSD’s High School Female Flag Football team celebrated two student-athletes during Senior Day. Huge congratulations to Chloe Knox and Ja’Mya Muhammad for helping lead the Lady Clippers to an amazing 7-2 regular season finish.
Their leadership and energy have been a big part of the team’s success this year. Now, the Lady Clippers are playoff-bound. Stay tuned for updates on their playoff run.
Prom Expo A Success
Thanks to our incredible partnership with Keystone First and The Wardrobe, CUSD hosted a special Prom Expo that included three separate giveaway dates to help ensure all of our students have what they need to look and feel their best for prom.
The event space at the Keystone First Wellness & Opportunity Center was beautifully decorated to match this year’s prom theme, "A Night in Paris." It took a lot of hard work, planning, and generous donations to make this event possible. We are so grateful to our partners for coming together to support our students.
We hope all the families and students who stopped by found just what they needed. We can’t wait to see everyone dressed to impress on June 6!
