SHS Getting Geared Up For Christmas!
Homework Help-Extra! Extra!
Stay caught up with your homework and grades by participating in Homework Help every Thursday in the SHS library from 3:20-5:00 pm. Come for a quiet space to work and extra support from teachers.
Homework Help will be held both Tuesdays and Thursdays for the last two weeks of the semester!
FCCLA Rocks at Regions!
On Wednesday the FCCLA Region VI meeting was held at Lake Area Technical College. Four students from the SHS chapter attended. Students participated in sessions where they learned how to "Shine Bright and Dream Big." Students also joined workshops were they created vision boards. Additionally, they were involved in a community service project where they decorated bags and filled them with food that will be donated to a local food pantry.
Note from the Tech Department
Students, the weather is dropping below freezing. Please remember to take your electronics (Your Chromebook) in a heated building with you.
Do not leave them in your car. They will freeze and break.
Focusing on Mental Health
Mrs. Fisher's Health I class has been keeping the halls of SHS colorful and positive. Students have been creating messages promoting positive mental health and the importance of persistence and a good attitude. For the holiday season, they created a tree of Christmas lights filled with notes of cheer and self-confidence.
Students Prep to Take Semester Tests
Spanish I students are well versed in playing games to master material, but are pictured here with intense concentration trying out a new game called "Hot Seat" as they prepped to review the semester's material and reflect on all the progress they have made towards learning a new language.
Be sure to check with your student about when their semester tests are happening in each class and encourage them to study and be prepared to show what they know!
Dual Credit Enrollment Open
Dual Credit Registration is open for all eligible juniors and seniors. Please see Mrs. Filipek for more information.
Dual credits are classes that earn students both high and college credits at the same time. The courses cost $50.84 per credit hour or around $152 for a three-credit course and that is paid for by the student. These classes are taken online during the student's school day and are a great way for motivated college/technical school-bound students to get ahead on some of the general electives they will need. GET TO KNOW YOUR TEACHER: Marne Snaza
Subjects Taught: 6th Grade Chorus, 7/8th Grade Chorus, High School Chorus
Years Taught: I'm a newbie-first time teaching
What is one of your favorite things about teaching?
I love being able to teach new concepts and literally see students gain knowledge. I also have found such satisfaction in when we are working together on something new to us and we accomplish the goal-everyone rejoices in the newfound skill!
What is your favorite dish from the cafeteria? I haven't eaten there recently, but 28 years ago, it was pizza and chocolate milk.
What is something interesting about yourself? Some of my favorite memories from high school actually revolved around the choir so it is a unique joy to be able to try and give the same opportunity for others to make amazing memories in music—-individually giving your best so that collectively you can produce something of beauty and greater than what you could do yourself.
