Veterans Day Assembly
This Veterans Day, East Troy High School HOSA students were honored to support our veterans by organizing the annual Veterans Day Ceremony. Local American Legion members and veterans' family members joined us for breakfast and a meaningful event.
Mary Harding led as master of ceremonies, and the East Troy High School choir performed the National Anthem and In Flanders Field. John Feyen, grandfather of seniors Jonah and Hannah Feyen, delivered an inspiring speech to the entire student body.
HOSA President Savanna Kawleski led a moment of silence in honor of all veterans, while students Gemma Scott and Christian Perry played taps. Senior Jordan Volkman, an Army National Guard member, assisted the American Legion in posting and retiring the colors.
Thank you to all who attended and to those who have served our country.
ETHS Student Visit the Manor
On Tuesday, our AVID 10 class kicked off an ongoing partnership with East Troy Manor. Our students chatted with residents about life experiences, favorite items, and sports among other topics. The students will continue to meet with the residents monthly until the end of second trimester and are looking forward to creating a craft and sharing some cookies on our next visit!
AP US History Students Engage in Simulation
Recently Mr. Brown's AP United States History class (APUSH) did a simulation exploring the power struggles and compromises that impacted the formation of The U.S. Constitution. For the simulation, students had to actively engage in Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity as they were given limited instructions to create a game out of random sports equipment where every single piece was used, then the students had to play the game they just created. During this simulation students were identifying the initial problems, making compromises, and making adjustments along the way. After the simulation, students put on their Critical Thinking hats as they analyzed the parallels and similarities between the game they just created and America in the 1780s during the Constitutional Convention to identify the complexities and compromises involved in creating this foundational document of the United States. Students embraced this challenge and gained some valuable insight of this historical event.
NHS Hosted Blood Drive
The National Honor Society’s blood drive on October 24th was a huge success! Students did a great job of recruiting donors and facilitating the event in conjunction with Versiti. We had a record number of community members donate this year. Thank you to everyone for your support!
