VIA Gets School of Excellence Award
Virtual academy K-5 recognized for personalized learning
Imagine Learning has selected Don Tyson School of Innovation as a 2023-2024 School of Excellence for its use of Imagine MyPath digital curriculum solutions.
“Our collaboration with Imagine Learning allows us to personalize learning for our students, whether they need a little extra help on grade-level work or an extension into higher grade-level material,” said Laura Newberry, DTSOI Virtual Innovation Academy third, fourth and fifth grade teacher. “With Imagine MyPath, we can do this valuable work, all while meeting the needs of our students and families”
Imagine Learning serves over 15 million students in more than half of America’s school districts, according to an Imagine Learning press release. The Imagine Nation Awards honor schools and districts for their exemplary implementation of Imagine Learning solutions and their commitment to student learning.
VIA uses Imagine MyPath to help enrich the personalized educational journey of the academy’s youngest learners, said Dr. Shay Hopper, VIA assistant principal.
"I am forever proud of the incredible work our Virtual Innovation Academy K-5 team does with our Phoenix Fledglings,” Hopper said. “It is a true collaboration and partnership between the students, their families, the teachers and our school."
VIA students enroll in the academy for a variety of reasons, Newberry said.
“For some families, virtual education suits their schedules better, and for others, the flexibility of virtual learning helps them accommodate diverse needs,” she said.
Imagine Nation awards are presented to schools and districts that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to the effective implementation of an Imagine Learning program throughout the year, according to the Imagine Learning press release. More than 38,000 schools and districts throughout the United States were eligible for an Imagine Nation Award, 220 of which were named an Imagine Nation School for the 2023-2024 school year.
“Working hand-in-hand with educators to implement innovative digital curriculum programs that empower teachers and truly make a difference for their students is incredibly rewarding,” said Sari Factor, Imagine Nation vicechair and chief strategy officer. “It’s an honor to see the dedication from schools across the country and to be part of their journey to success.”
Each award-winning school and district received an Imagine Learning banner to display their achievement, according to the release.
