Spring is in the Air! Can you feel it? The longer daylight hours, warmer temperatures (well sometimes anyway), and blossoming flowers and trees signal winter's end is on its way out and new beginnings are emerging.
As the outdoors comes alive again, it can elevate our moods and energy levels too. Why not take advantage of this spirit of freshness and rebirth? Here are some ways to welcome spring:
Get Outside
With sunny days becoming more frequent, make an effort as a family to spend more time outdoors. Take a walk around your neighborhood and notice the sights and smells of nature waking up. Fly a kite at a nearby park. Have a picnic lunch or snack outside. Getting fresh air and exercising lifts mood and is great for health.
Start a Window Garden
Nurture your green thumbs by starting some seed plantings on a sunny windowsill indoors. Watching seeds sprout, watering the seedlings, and eventually transplanting them outdoors connects us to spring's cycle of growth.
Clear Out and Clean Up
Spring is the perfect time to clear out any clutter and musty stagnant energy left over from winter. Go through closets, toys, and storage areas and donate or discard anything unused. Clean and reorganize living spaces. Having an organized, fresh environment can increase focus and calm.
Make a Gratitude Garden
On strips of paper or popsicle sticks, have every family member write down something they're grateful for this spring. Use these to create a gratitude garden in a bowl or vase - a colorful reminder of optimism and appreciation.
Whatever ways you welcome the spring, take a mindful pause to breathe in that sweet fresh air and let it revitalize your spirit! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at cbiolo@kimberly.k12.wi.us.
