Dear Families,

I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude and admiration for the incredible role our mothers play in our school community. Whether you are a biological mom, a loving guardian, or a teacher who nurtures and cares for our students day in and day out, your love, dedication, and tireless efforts do not go unnoticed. You are the ones who kiss away tears, offer words of encouragement, and provide unwavering support to our children as they navigate their educational journey. Your influence extends far beyond the classroom walls, shaping the future generation with your kindness, wisdom, and compassion. Your role is invaluable, and we are profoundly grateful for all that you do. Have a great Mother's Day.

Time flies when you are having fun! We are getting close to the end of the school year with lots of fun and celebrations to look forward to. Your teachers will be in touch soon about specifics relating to field trips, field days,track day, diversity day and end of the year celebrations.

As a reminder, there is no school on May 24th and May 27th. May 24th is a teacher in-service day and May 27th is Memorial Day. Have a great few weeks!

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the Third Annual Padres Latinos of the West Chester Area School District Community Resource Fair and End of Year Celebration on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hillsdale Elementary School located at 725 W. Market Street, West Chester, PA 19382.

The Resource Fair is a community outreach event created with the goal of connecting WCASD Spanish-speaking families to school and community resources to assist parents to overcome linguistic and cultural challenges so they may successfully navigate our school system with ease in support of their children’s education. This event is free for presenters and families.

In 2024 Padres Latinos celebrates 10 years bridging the Spanish speaking community and our schools! Since 2014, Padres Latinos has offered monthly meetings in Spanish, or through an interpreter, to families in the West Chester Area School District throughout the school year. The topics ranged from How to prepare for a successful Parent-Teacher-Conference?; Technology in WCASD; Special Education Services in WCASD; Healthy Relationships with Children and Teens; Drug, Alcohol and Vaping Prevention; Power of Parents (MADD); College 101; Technical College High School Programs; and, QPR Training, just to name a few!

To help us celebrate, we are inviting local organizations to participate in our Third Community Resource Fair. We are hoping that your institution would be able to join us with information about services in Spanish and in English, and, if possible, in donating one item to be raffled at the end of the evening. Please RSVP no later than June 1st, 2024. On the day of the event, all volunteers and presenters may arrive at Hillsdale Elementary at 5:00 p.m. The doors will open to families at 6:00 p.m.

We appreciate your considering this opportunity to engage parents and families make real and valuable connections within our West Chester Community! We hope you will join us on Friday, June 7th at Hillsdale Elementary.

If you or someone you know has a child who will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2024 you are now able to begin the kindergarten registration process online. The link is: https://www.wcasd.net/Page/12419. Be sure to click on the year 2024-2025.

You will need to upload: child's birth certificate, immunizations, two proofs of residency (one must be a copy of a current lease or mortgage statement, or deed and the second should be a copy of a current utility bill within the past 30 days. If you have a copy of the child's last dental and physical, please upload those as well.)
