Class of 2025 National Merit Semifinalists
Two students from Lakeville South High School have been announced as Class of 2025 National Merit Semifinalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Congratulations to Iris Ostrowski and Quinn Weaver who were among 16,000 semifinalists across the country!
Students who qualify for the National Merit Scholarship program are honored for displaying exceptional academic ability. To qualify as a semifinalist, students must score in the top percentage on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) taken their junior year, representing less than 1 percent of the nation’s high school graduating seniors.
To be considered for a National Merit Scholarship, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist standing, including an outstanding academic record, recommendation by a high school official and excellent ACT or SAT scores.
Good luck to both Iris and Quinn who will be competing next spring for one of 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million! Learn more about the National Merit Scholarship Program at nationalmerit.org.

Lakeville South Encore Choir Releases Music Video of "The Pretender"
We are thrilled to announce the release of the Encore Choir's music video of "The Pretender" (originally performed by Foo Fighters), created as a culminating project for the 2023-2024 school year. This project was an incredible journey for our students, who collaborated with top music industry professionals, including Katherine Bodor (arranger and recording), Jordan Roll (mixing and editing), Elise Schroeder (creative director and choreographer), Powers Spees (videographer), Morgan Baumbach (lighting), and our very own LSHS student, Olivia Olmsted, who handled makeup.
Filming for the video took place in April and June, followed by months of post-production over the summer. We are extremely proud of the final product and excited to share it with our community. The video has also been entered into CASA’s music video competition, where it is being considered for an AVA Award.
We encourage you to watch the video, celebrate our talented students, and share it with family and friends. Your continued support means the world to us! "The Pretender" (opb. Foo Fighters Lakeville South Encore

MN National College Fair: Oct. 22 - 23, 2024
What's a National College Fair?
Free and open to the public, National College Fairs are the perfect place to kick off your college search. Admission representatives from schools across the country are all gathered in one place. Their goal: To encourage you to learn more about their institutions, and help you sort through the qualities you’re looking for in a college.
Use your visit to:
- Explore your options. Each fair draws representatives from 175 to 400 colleges. The schools are located throughout the US, and from around the globe.
- Ask questions. What’s college life like? What majors are popular on campus? Chatting with representatives from a variety of colleges can help you cement your own preferences.
- Gather information. Pick up brochures and other materials about the schools that interest you. Ask admission reps to scan your barcode—an easy way to help colleges follow up with you after the fair.
For more information on the upcoming College Fair in October, please visit: NACAC National College Fair - Minnesota.
