Hello MSE Students and Families!

I wanted to send a short communication to keep you up to date on the happenings of our school as we get ready to start the new school year.

- Please see the information below regarding Summer Reading expectations. One of the best ways to ensure a smooth start to the school year is to have the appropriate summer reading expectations taken care of before the first day of school.

- Our Main Office is open every day, Monday-Thursday from 7AM-5PM during the summer should you need to stop by or give us a call.

- Schedules will be released on August 13.

-On August 14, from 9AM-11AM and again on Aug 19, from 1PM-3PM, we will have our 6th grade/new student Open House. More detailed information is forthcoming.

- Back to School Night for 6th Grade parents and guardians is August 21 at 6:30PM. 7th/8th Grade Back to School Night is on September 5 at 6:30PM.

- Picture Day and Health Screenings will occur on the second day of school, August 27.

- On July 29, we will be pushing out a more detailed letter with further information to all of our students and families.

Every student has a summer reading expectation to fulfill before the start of next school year. We do offer choices with the hope a student will select a book that is interesting to them. Please click on the appropriate attachment for your grade next year.

****Please note that students who will receive support in a Co-Taught class and/or have an IEP are not considered "Learning Support" reading students. Learning Support students will be in either Wilson or Read 180 classes next year and were informed of this placement in your IEP meetings.****

The PA Department of Health mandates two additional immunizations for entry into the 7th grade. Please note if immunizations are not completed by the first day of school, students could face temporary exclusion until proof of immunizations are received.

The required immunizations are:

· 1 dose of Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis)

· 1 dose of MCV4 (Meningococcal Conjugate vaccine).

Please check with your child’s Primary Care Physician to ensure they are up to date and submit a copy to the MSE nurses’ office if you have not done so already.

28 PA Code § 23.3 (a) requires a dental examination for all children in the 7th grade. Exams completed after July 1, 2023, are considered acceptable to meet this requirement.

You may forward any documentation to Mr. Maoury at amaoury@boyertownasd.org and he will send to our nurses when they begin to return to work in August.

Please submit proof of these requirements as soon as they are complete to ensure there is no disruption in your child's education.

We're sad to see you go, but if you plan on moving or withdrawing to a new school our office needs to be contacted to process this request in a timely manner. Please contact twilkie@boyertownasd.org for more information and directions. Failure to provide us this information before the start of the new school year may impact the ability to enroll in your new school.
