Hello Vernon Families and Friends,
As we begin the second quarter, it’s a wonderful opportunity to talk with your child about their accomplishments so far, areas for growth, and goals for the months ahead. At Vernon, we're committed to fostering a growth mindset, inspiring students to recognize that with effort and perseverance, progress is always within reach. This month, we're emphasizing the IB Learner Profile trait of being an Inquirer—encouraging curiosity, a love for learning, and the drive to explore new ideas. Our goal is for each student to achieve high levels of proficiency in reading, writing, and math while also growing as critical thinkers and engaged contributors to our global community.
New to the 2024-25 school year, all parents with education rights are automatically opted in to receive paperless report cards, but can now through Parentvue opt into paper copies if you so wish. This guide explains how parents can opt to receive paper copies instead. Please note that if both parents live at the same address, they will each need to opt out individually to receive a printed report card.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students reach their full potential. The report card marks just the beginning of ongoing communication between school and home, and we’re excited to continue this through our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences:
- November 21: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
- November 25: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM
- November 26: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
You can sign up for a conference through My Conference Time or directly with your child’s teacher if they are not listed on the site.
We look forward to working together to support your child’s growth and learning!
Warm regards,
Ben Keefer
Principal
Middle School OBOB Lunch Club
We’re excited to announce that Middle School OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books) will be held during the school day as a lunch club in the library, starting next Tuesday! This is a great chance for students to dive into some fantastic books and sharpen their reading and teamwork skills. Students will receive more information about OBOB during their advisory classes. We hope to see many of our readers there!
Thank you to Delisse Ortiz and all our parent volunteers for helping make Dia De Los Muertos celebration. a great event! There was a solid turnout, great music, face painting, treats, crafts, Loteria, and of course a pinata to wrap up the evening. It takes many people to put on an event, and we are thankful for so many willing volunteers to help make the event a success!
