Good evening BES families
I hope everyone is staying warm as we approach late fall/early winter weather. The trees are moving into winter mode which makes it beautiful to drive into Byron. We are coming up on the end of the quarter for this school year. Attendance letters for any student missing 10% or more of their school day will be sent home on 9/25 as they are generated from PowerSchool. The system does NOT take into account REASONS why students are gone from school. The letters are for families to keep you aware of time not in school which always has a negative affect in some way for a student, especially those who are already struggling. Byron Elementary is working on ways to increase our students who have "on-track" attendance, meaning missing 5 days or less for the year. We have begun tracking grade level attendance and each month a winner is selected for a special prize/treat/event. In September, fourth grade only had 4 students who missed more than 10% of school at that point and the entire grade level was awarded a PJ day today for their accomplishment. Rise Up to Wise Up!
Educationally Yours,
Mrs. Johnson
