Office Updates
Building Safety
To ensure we are providing protection to all of our students and community members, please remember not to let other people into the building with you. We need each person to ring the bell. We are checking IDs of visitors from outside agencies prior to opening our doors. Your support with this will ensure that we don't accidentally admit anyone who should not be in the building. Thank you.
Message from the Health Room
Immunization Exclusion Day is quickly approaching. Any students who are in need of vaccinations are required to have these completed by the start of school on 2/19/25 to avoid school exclusion. Please call Jenn in the health room if you have any questions regarding immunizations for your student. The following are resources for immunization appointments to keep your student up-to-date:

Exclusion Day
Wednesday Feb 19th is Immunization Exclusion Day. All students need to be up-to-date with their immunizations prior to the start of school on this day. Attached are some options to bring immunizations up-to-date. Please call the health room if you have questions.
ECO School Opportunity
Eco School is hosting a Winter workshop. If you feel it's appropriate to share with staff (newsletter). If anyone is interested, it's for folks who are already working on sustainability or outdoor schoolyard projects to connect with others, access resources, and get some mentorship.

Collaborate on features like interactive panels and loose parts construction that will engage and inspire students for years to come!

Our Peninsula clothing closet is low on pants! Please bring any new or gently used pants donations in all youth sizes to the front office to contribute.

Volunteer Opportunity: Thursday, February 20th
Peninsula Elementary is requesting 5-6 volunteer representatives between 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM at the district PTA Clothing Center (Marshall Campus, 3905 SE 91st Ave., Room B-60) to assist kids and families in selecting clothing and sorting donations. Volunteers can be adult family members or community members. This year, the center has already served 890 students and logged over 1,900 volunteer hours. Donations of teen/adult-sized hoodies, sweatshirts, coats, and boys' pants (sizes 4-14) are also needed. Please text 503-729-6957 or email alyssancrea@gmail.com for questions. North Portland Library Ribbon Cutting Event
The Library Capital Building Projects Program Management Office is excited to invite you to the ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the updated, expanded North Portland Library. New spaces and features include the new Black Cultural Center with artwork by Sadé DuBoise, Melanie Stevens and Kayin Talton Davis and an early learning and play space by Burgeon Group.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony
While the ribbon-cutting ceremony is primarily a media event, it will be the start of two, fun-filled days of activities for the community on Saturday, February 8 and Sunday, February 9. Featuring a performance by the Jefferson Dancers, food from local Black-owned businesses and more, there will be plenty to do while exploring the new features of North Portland Library. Patrons can stay up-to-date on opening events on the library website.
We are excited to celebrate with you and hope you are able to attend.

Please call our attendance line at 503-916-6275, email Sara's sub Malia, at msanford@pps.net, Erika at erreavis@pps.net or update through ParentVue if your child is missing school with the reason they are out. If there are multiple unexcused absences it is a district wide protocol that a teacher or member of our team will reach out to see how we can best support with getting your child to school. We know it can be hard and we are here to problem solve and support you and your family!

A Message from our school Social Worker
Our school social worker Kate will be out on leave until 2/10. Please click here and check out the full list of past resources shared. Most of these are ongoing resources available. Food boxes are available in the front lobby of the school and restocked weekly thanks to our PTA- if you are in need of one you can come pick up anytime the school is open. For access to other resources please call 211 or you can also reach out to our school counselor Samara Carranza at scarranza@pps.net.
