See Something, Say Something Cool Tool
During the 2020-21 school year, we continue to remain focused on our top priority, student safety, in all of our school buildings. Safety is a shared responsibility and all of us play an important role in keeping our students safe.
At Central Road School and throughout District 15, we take a proactive approach in maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment. This information is being shared with you not in response to a concern in our community, but because we want to be sure all students are prepared to respond appropriately if they find themselves in an unsafe situation.
With that in mind, your student(s) will be learning about the importance of reporting unsafe behaviors and situations at school through a lesson called “See Something, Say Something”. This lesson will be taught to all District 15 students during the month of November or December. It will cover what behaviors and situations are unsafe and the multiple ways your student(s) can report these incidents.
Aside from reporting an incident or concern to a trusted adult, an online, anonymous option that is available to you and your child is the existing online Bullying / Safety Tipline that is located on the District 15 website.
The tipline provides everyone, parents and students, with an option to anonymously report bullying and/or safety concerns within their schools.
Please include as much detailed information as possible because doing so will greatly assist administrators in investigating and addressing the concern(s). When information is shared, it enables the administrators to take action in order to keep our students safe.
All tips are anonymous unless you choose to identify yourself.
It is important to note, we are teaching our students to “See Something, Say Something” as a proactive measure in order to ensure students know what to do if they find themselves in an unsafe situation.
Teaching and preventing unsafe behaviors is a priority for the District 15 Safety Committee.
Thank you for your continued commitment to keeping our students safe. If you have any concerns, please reach out.
Change Request Form
If you would like to request a change in enrollment, we ask that you complete this online form no later than Friday, October 30 at 11:59 p.m. Virtual placements will be made by November 4. In-person placements that we are able to accommodate will be implemented by January 5, with notification provided by Tuesday, December 15 .
Please know that completion of this survey is not a guarantee that in-person requests can be accommodated. However, all requests to change to virtual learning will be honored, as required by ISBE. Online form submissions will inform us of the amount of requests we have District-wide for an enrollment change so that we can decide what options we are able to provide.
THIS IS IMPORTANT, please complete the online form only if you would like to request a switch from your current enrollment selection. No action is needed if your child will stay in his or her current placement.
IDHP Changes COVID Testing Protocol
On October 13, the Illinois Department of Public Health changed what COVID diagnostic test results schools may accept when permitting a student or staff member to return after presenting with symptoms. The IDPH will only allow schools to accept PCR test results, which are typically the nasal swab tests that take several days to obtain a result. Rapid test results, also known as antigen (Ag) tests, can no longer be accepted by schools state-wide. A list of recommended testing locations is available online. This list is not exhaustive, and families may choose alternative locations that also provide the PCR test.
As a reminder, if any student or staff member has one or more COVID symptoms, the person may not return to school until one of three conditions is met:
Negative COVID test result (PCR only) is submitted, OR;
Alternative diagnosis by healthcare provider submitted OR;
10 days have passed since symptom onset AND person is fever and diarrhea free for 24 hours.
Additionally, please be aware that the IDPH requires that all household members (page 1, column D, row 5) be excluded from school if even one person is symptomatic. All household members must stay home until one of the three conditions above is satisfied.
